You’re craving a chill out room with altitude. There are 360° stunning vistas from on high, with the Cambrian Mountains spread out before you - bring your binoculars. You’ll have total privacy (apart from the odd visit from a wild pony, a piglet or badger). Perhaps the most active you want to be (after the short walk uphill from car to Earth Conker) is to fire up the Pizza Oven - create your own amazing pizza while enjoying the fabulous views - we even provide the flour and yeast for the dough. Or perhaps you’d prefer to pour your energies into preparing a wood-fired bath in our rustic outdoor bathtub - wood-fire the water and enjoy a glass of wine under the starry skies. The next day you could lace up your hiking boots and walk all the way to Aberystwyth over the moors or take a wild swim nearby - or just enjoy the 81 acres of our Red Kite Estate which are at your disposal. This is a spectacularly remote location, ideal for a digital detox, but if you need connection, you can take advantage of superfast Wifi from Elon Musk’s Starlink for an additional fee. with creature comforts such as a USB charging point, a mini-fridge and a Bluetooth sound bar so you can add your own soundtrack to the Welsh landscape! When you’re ready to go further afield, head out on a moorland walk to take in some magical views - the nearest pub is in Newbridge-on-Wye for those of you who need some motivation. Further afield, the stunning Elan Valley, a landscape bursting with impressive dams and reservoirs, is well worthy of an explore. And for those needing supplies - and perhaps a flat white - then the friendly market town of Builth Wells is just down the road. Guest access Guests have full access to the entire 80-acre estate, which is set in a dark skies park, meaning you get mind blowing views day AND night! There is a short, uphill walk from the car park to the tree tent, so a head torch is useful in the dark. The path and the site can become slippery when wet so good footwear is essential. We provide instructions to guide you to the Conker. Wood is stored in a crate in the car park. **Nearby Activities** Flying with falcons - you can book Tim’s amazing Valley View Experience to come with his birds of prey to the Red Kite Estate or go explore their home in Rhayader where he has 36 breeds of raptor for you to enjoy. Pony Trekking & horse riding - suitable for beginners Red Kite Feeding Station at Rhayader - always a big hit with our guests. They feed the birds regularly throughout the day and it is a stunning sight! Enjoy the countryside - wild swimming, hiking, biking but… The true joy of this place is how wonderfully simple it is (aviation technology aside). Days are filled with fireside discussions, wildlife watching and stunningly beautiful walks. With the nearest mobile signal a ten minute walk away, it’s a great place to ditch the digital and truly escape. You might find you’ll never want to leave (and with 81 acres of estate to hide in, you might not have to!) Other things to note Our estate is committed to sustainability and rewilding. Expect an eco-friendly stay with upcycled and scavenged decor. This is a digital detox experience with no electricity or WiFi, but you will pick up patchy WiFi. Super fast Wifi from Starlink is available for an extra cost.
