Description
This spacious, single-storey property is all about space, freedom, light & fresh air! It's so large you won't be on top of one another, and there's lots of space outside to run around & let off steam. Visitors are greeted with a 'welcome pack' of essentials, including tea, coffee, milk and sugar. Keen cooks will find salt, pepper, herbs & spices; we also supply basics such as washing up liquid, washing machine powder & cleaning materials. Dogs are welcome, & will be charged at £25/stay each. The space Set on the edge of the valley above Monmouth, the property boasts breathtaking views stretching across the Wye Valley and to the Black Mountains. The cottage sleeps 6 in 'proper' beds, plus there is a double sofa bed in the main bedroom & a single 'put you up' bed (with a proper mattress) can be provided in the sitting room if required; a travel cot is also available by arrangement. There is one spacious double bedroom with TV & en-suite bathroom with large corner shower, WC & basin; one twin room made up of two adjoining single rooms with an open doorway between them; & one large twin with a standard single bed and a 4ft bed (small double). Each bedroom has French windows opening into one of the secluded courtyards that surround the cottage. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over the luxurious corner bath, basin & WC. A sunny entrance hall/breakfast room leads into the spacious sitting room with a range of family games, books & DVDs for all ages & tastes. There is wifi internet throughout the property. The kitchen is the hub of this home. It’s well-equipped with electric oven & hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine & tumble dryer - and that vital coffee filter machine! The outside area can be secured so that all but the most determined escape artist-dogs can run freely throughout the yard & large lawned area in front of the cottage - although we still need owners to ensure that they do not break into the fields with the livestock, of course! Guest access We are in a smallholding of 6.5 acres, which includes fields of livestock such as Pygmy goats, poultry & donkeys as well as broadleaf woodland, gardens & ponds. You are welcome to walk around the grounds but we do ask that dogs are kept under close control at all times and under NO circumstances must they be allowed loose in the paddocks or to chase any livestock, whether on our property or in neighbouring fields (although they will almost certainly enjoy rabbiting at the bottom of the garden!). You will have your own private area of garden with a picnic table, barbecue & large lawn where you can play croquet or badminton. Children will enjoy feeding Gilbert & George the Pygmy Goats, Dobby & Uncle Egbert the Soay sheep, a large family of geese, ducks and chickens, as well as the many large Koi carp in the pond in front of the main house. Other things to note We offer the option of booking a home cooked evening meal, using locally sourced produce wherever possible (most veg is from our own garden), and we are used to catering for specific diets such as gluten, dairy and nut free. Please enquire when you book. We also offer a range of our own produce (marmalade, jams, hen & duck eggs, vegetables & fruit in season) with an 'honesty box' in the cottage. If you have any particular requirements please let us know & we'll do our best to fulfil them! During the summer season you may also like to arrange to ‘pick-your-own’ raspberries in our veg garden. DOGS: up to 3 well-behaved dogs are welcome. We charge £5/night per dog & this will be invoiced to you.
