Seemingly every month some great new spot opens adding to the vibrancy and diversity of the whole bar/restaurant scene. Probably easiest to Google / ask for directions/ take a free map of Tarifa for full details RESTAURANTS & BARS "IN SPITTING DISTANCE" In front of the apartment on the beach "WAIKIKI " is the worlds finest Chiringuito ! Fantastic food/cocktails/sunsets all year round !/staff/ setting/ live music/DJs...... " 'nuff said !" "ENCUENTRO", again, immediately below the apartment, this beachside cafe serves great food and drinks/ coffee, but the breakfasts are particularly good, fresh juices to see off the hangover, all at stupidly cheap prices. PIZZARIA "LA ARTESANA", just to the left of the entrance, a very friendly , family run (as with almost all restaurants here !) pizzeria, all cooked in a wood oven... what's not to love ? "EL ANCLA", 1 minute walk by the entrance to the fishing port, this traditional Spanish fish restaurant seems to get first "dibs" on the freshest fish off the boats.... wonderful ! "MIC MOC" , 2 minute walk, overlooking the port. Famous for its fusion dishes and exciting veggie menus "ECO CENTRE" , 4 minute walk, great space just to chill, eat excellent veggie pizzas, and live bands in the evenings. CASCO HISTORICO ( 3 minutes walk) The mediaeval old town of Tarifa is a wondrous maze of bars / cafes/ restaurants/shops....the best thing to do is just "get involved".... "LA GARROCHA", tremendous tapas, wines and beers- do NOT miss out on the "tosta de atun con trufo " - out of this world ! "EL FRANCES", a Tarifa institution that never disappoints. Innovative menus served by charming staff, if you cant wait for a table on the terrace , tuck into the tapas at the bar ! "ANCA CURRO", or often referred to as "The Bullfighting Bar", is another Tarifa institution. Fascinating memorabilia of bullfighting through the ages decorate every available inch of wall space. They carve the finest "Jamon Bellota" (the highest grade of Jamon Iberico) you will find , wash it down with a large "copa de Ribera"..... Paraiso ! "LOLA", justifiably famous tapas restaurant with modern twists on old classics, and if you struggle for a table here, just pop next door to "PIC NIC", which, unsurprisingly, is every bit as good ! To fire up a night "on the town" you could do a lot worse than starting with a frozen strawberry margarita at ALOHA" cocktail bar, a tiny establishment that punches well above its weight, with customers flowing out onto the plaza. And then , for a bit of glamour and bling, pop into "LA DIOSA" next door, basically an Ibiza style club and bar with one glaring difference..... its FREE to enter ! IN THE VICINITY La Playa de los Lances stretches 17km from Tarifa town (where the Mediterranean meets The Atlantic Ocean ) up to the massive sand dunes of Punta Paloma. All along this strip there are great beaches, kite schools and chiringuitos. Not to be missed is the iconic "VALDEVAQUEROS", home to some of the best kiting in the world and the banging beach bar "TUMBAO", knocking out killer Mojitos to the beautiful people of Tarifa !
