Highest point around at 6,800 feet, so you can't beat the view. The space Commune with nature on this very rustic property, a 1920's homestead on 12.5 acres. It is 19.5 miles from Monticello (30 minute drive). Great place for a family reunion or getaway for a larger group to escape the summer heat (located at 7,000 feet). Can sleep a total of 17 people, plus there is a campground where others can pitch tents if your group is larger. There are numerous rustic buildings/cabins/hogan on the property, three of which can be rented, or the entire property, and two shared spaces available to all guests. 1-Hogan: with one double bed and three narrow single bench beds (72 inches long x 24 inches wide) covered with a five inch thick pad, a wood stove for heat and a table/desk area, single light in the ceiling. All guests have access to shared space in two separate buildings if there are other guests including a: 1-Bathhouse attached to the owners home. In the bathhouse there are two showers, a washer/dryer, sink, flush toilet, towels, soap, shampoo, heat, and lights. 2-Cookhouse cabin with a cook stove, refrigerator, sink, cupboards, dishes, tables with seating for ten people inside and 4-6 outside, wood stove for heat, and recycle bins. 3-There is a fire pit, barbecue grill, board games, croquet set, and a horseshoe set. 4-Wifi 5-Spectacular views of many mountain ranges in Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona. Highest point around at 6,800 feet so you can't beat the views. The actual Bears Ears can be seen to the west. Guest access From this location you are 1 hour to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, 1 hour from Hovenweep National Park, 1.5 hours from Moab, 1 hour from Cedar Mesa and various parts of Bears Ears National Monument, 2 hours from Mesa Verde mesa top ruins, and 1.5 hours from the San Juan River. Many days trips are within easy reach. Owner is very familiar with the area and can provide recommendations for places to visit as well as directions. During your stay The owner lives on the property if you have questions or need anything. She may not be there all the time but will give you her cell phone when you arrive if you have questions. There are a dog and cat that live on the property, so sorry but guests may not bring pets. Three Great Pyrenees neighbor dogs occasionally show up as well who are very friendly. Other things to note This property is accessed from a paved road, with the last mile being a good gravel road. It is a remote location, 19.5 miles from Monticello, but does have wifi. Cell phones on Verizon or AT&T work here. There is a land line phone in the owners house for emergencies. The property is 19-20 miles from the closest grocery store and towns (Monticello, UT and Dove Creek, CO), so bring food with you. The grocery store in Monticello UT is closed on Sunday so either get food enroute or in Dove Creek CO, if you arrive on a Sunday.
