Welcome to our amazing getaway on the water! Our 1400 square foot cabin is on the Yellow River/Moon Bay, with direct access by boat to Lake Wissota. Dock is available for your boat or for you to fish, swim, or just sit and enjoy the view. Our cabin has a spectacular view of the water from the living room, a fire pit overlooking the lake, and a stairway of 24 steps that leads to the dock. Close to Wissota State Park. Our cabin is cozy in the cooler months and so much fun in the summer! The original part of our cabin was built in 1920, but it is now a year-round updated house that has been added to over the years. (You will notice this has led to a funky but fun floor plan.) We use our cabin quite a bit in addition to renting, so we have all the amenities we like: a kitchen with lots of cooking utensils and appliances (including dishwasher), washer/dryer, Wifi, plenty of parking, a small gas grill, and a three-season screen porch. Our TV has local channels and internet access (but no cable), and you can use our Netflix account or log into your service of choice. Our internet service is excellent. We also have a new central air unit to keep the house cool even in the hottest days of summer. Our cabin is safe for small children! Our waterfront is completely fenced and the stairs to the water are protected by a gate. We have a pack-n-play and a high chair (the kind that straps onto a kitchen chair) for use. It is great for adults too! There are a number of seating areas (kitchen table, dining room table, pub-style table in the living room, three-season porch, deck, fire pit) so there is lots of space for friends to gather. There is a boat landing that is perfect for canoes and kayaks (and small motorized craft) about a half mile down the road. Lake Wissota State Park has a larger boat launch just 3 miles away. The fishing in our bay is amazing! Recently some friends caught walleye and bass while sitting on the dock. And don't overlook fall, winter, and spring! We have a fabulous gas fireplace that makes our living room so cozy, so you can snuggle by the fire while gazing out the big bay windows at the frozen lake. We don't do it ourselves, but our neighbors say the ice fishing is great in our bay. Lake Wissota State Park has great cross country skiing, or many people ski or snowmobile on the frozen bay. Our dock is suitable for mooring a boat, so feel free to bring your fishing boat, runabout, or pontoon. We also have a canoe and kayak with adult life jackets for use. The garage is not available for guest use. We live about a half hour away and are very accessible by phone as needed (though we both work full time, so can't always respond immediately). Check in is at your convenience with keypad entry. Our neighborhood is quiet and beautiful. The homes on the water are close together, so we ask that you respect our neighbors, who are year-round residents and friends. That said, we have so many trees and bushes that our yard feels quite private despite its proximity to the neighbors. No campfires or noise outside after 10pm, please. We are located about three miles from Lake Wissota State Park (great hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing). There are a number of local bars and restaurants ranging from dives to pretty nice within a few miles of the cabin. One thing we love is that there is a grocery store and excellent meat market and ice cream shop only about 5-6 minutes away. Chippewa County is also home to a number of very fun breweries (open year round) and wineries (open seasonally).
