At Just Forget It, we hope you can forget your worries and enjoy living in the moment. We look forward to welcoming you into our "camp" at the lake that has been in our family since 1940. This lake house features lake views of Beech Hill Pond and includes shared lake access (with 2 other families in 4 other cabins) on the nicest side of the lake! Take one of our 2 kayaks (or canoe or paddleboard) out for a cruise or drive 40 mins to Acadia Nat Park. Also - we love dogs - no fee so bring them! There are three separate sleeping quarters in the camp, each respectively named after some of the camp dogs over the years. Sailor's Den - Named after Sailor, a 150+ lb. Bull Mastiff we had when we were kids who lived at the camp, this bedroom is on the main (first floor) in the back corner of the house and has a full sized bed. It is on the lake facing side and features a sunset view over the lake. It also has a cedar wardrobe so you can stow away/hang up your clothing. Foxy's Nook - Named for our mom's fluffy fox looking mixed dog of many years, this is the master bedroom that overlooks the kitchen from the lofted second floor and is on the back side of the house where it is most quiet. It features two closets, a TV with a DVD player, a queen sized bed and a dresser. Thunder's Loft - Also overlooking the kitchen but on the lake side is the open loft, named for our childhood hybrid wolf dog named Thunder. There are two twin sized beds and a wardrobe, and one window with a beautiful lake view. On the main floor, we have a 6 seat dining table next to the kitchen, as well as an island in the kitchen with two stools. Because the camp is lofted, the kitchen features high ceilings with two sky lights. The original cedar siding around the camp is bright and with all the windows and natural light, its a sunshine filled center room of the camp. The kitchen features a plethora of cabinets so there will be plenty of room to store your food. There's also a desk in the corner of the dining area for anyone working remotely during your stay. In the front sitting room, we have a reading/game nook (with a sizable collection of adult and kid's games, puzzles, color books, and card games!), two cozy chairs, and a couch with a chaise. All have a lake view. We also have a small SmartTV that is connected to the WiFi so you can log in to your own Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or Disney Plus account on a rainy day. We have one bathroom with a full shower and plenty of space to store your toiletries. We offer an array of travel size toiletries in case you forgot something and the shower is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Just a 1-2 minute walk to the lake We have neighbors (family and friends) who are local to assist in the event that you need it. 1 minute walk from the sandy beach at Beech Hill Pond, one of Maine's premier freshwater lakes! Just a 3 minutes drive or 15 minute walk from the Otis General Store, on a camp road with 4 other cabins. You will want a car but its an easy flight in to Bangor (about a 45 min drive if you rent a car), or even Portland especially if you wanted to stay a night there (about 2.5 hour drive). Just 40 minutes from Acadia National Park! We are happy to provide suggestions for our favorite easy or hard hikes, sunset/sunrise hikes, cliffs to climb or just favorite activities to do while you're here! Other 'Extras' include: dishwasher (dishwasher pods provided), coffee maker (some coffee and filters provided), Keurig (array of K-Cups provided), and all the 'basics' you need in the kitchen like cooking oil, spices, cooking oil spray, and all the cookware you might need. We also have two kayaks and a few tubes/floats available for your use - perfect for a sunset or sunrise paddle! Plenty of blankets and towels are also included. Since this is a camp in a rural town, we rely on well water. As is common in rural Maine wells, drinking the water for an extended period is not recommended. We highly recommend bringing bottled water for humans and dogs. We use the camp water for showers, teeth brushing, or cooking, but for everything else (drinking water, coffee) we bring bottled. The General Store is just 3 minutes down the road though for anything you forget and full grocery stores are a 15-20 minute drive to Ellsworth.
