The Purple Awning House at Lincoln Park

Charming two bedroom apartment overlooking scenic Lincoln Park. The only person closer to Abe will be Mary. Whether you are traveling solo or as part of a group, the Purple Awning House's spacious bedrooms, comfortable couch and a large inflatable bed (if needed) ensures everyone will have a good night's rest. * Note that this is a main floor apartment with another apartment upstairs. They have separate entrances and there is no shared space or ventilation. The space Please note that the house sits on a small hill, with a set of five concrete steps leading from the parking area to the front porch, with another three stops to the front door. We recognize that pets are family too and are open to guests with pets. We simply ask that you CLEAR IT WITH US FIRST, that they be kenneled when alone, KEPT OFF THE FURNITURE & BEDS and are picked up after. Other guests are allergic to pets and we have had to replace furniture due to irresponsible pet owners. The park across the street is a perfect place to exercise your dog. We want to keep offering the pet option, so please don't just show up with a pet. The living room and dining room are both spacious and comfortable; with the large windows providing a view of scenic Lincoln Park. The kitchen offers all the tools necessary for preparing a romantic dinner for two, grilling burgers and hot dogs out back or simply relaxing under the dogwood tree with a fresh cup of coffee and the morning newspaper. The full bath has all the necessary linens and other must-haves, including a blow dryer. Other amenities include Smart TV, WiFi, ROKU (no cable or satellite), an outdoor seating area, access to a gas grill and free on-street parking. Other things to note The Purple Awning House is walking distance to Oak Ridge Cemetery and Lincoln’s Tomb, less than one mile from downtown Springfield, where you can visit the Lincoln Homes, the Dana Thomas House, the Old and New State Capitols, The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library, the Lincoln Herndon Law Office, the shops on 6th Street and Obed's & Isaac's microbrewery. The Military Museum and Lincoln’s New Salem Historic Site are a bit farther away, but should still be given strong consideration as tourism destinations. The apartment sits mere yards from the 88 acre Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park contains the greatest variety of sports-oriented facilities of any park in the Springfield park district. The network of roads, trails and open space are available for walking, running and cycling (pets are welcome). The northern half of the park contains a soccer field, 6 ball diamonds (one is lighted), 3 tennis courts, 3 shuffleboard courts and 21 horseshoe pits. Lincoln Park is also home to the Nelson Recreation Center, which contains an outdoor swimming pool and two indoor ice rinks. The southern half of the park contains the historic stone pavilion and a small playground. Be sure to check out the historic stone bridge that spans the newly renovated lagoon, creating a delightful location for enjoying the scenery, birdwatching, photography, fishing, etc. Lincoln Park also has an 18-hole disc golf course that surrounds the lagoon and extends to the open meadow to the south. We have two sets of discs on the table inside the door.
