A 900-square foot strawbale hobbit cottage built into the hillside of the Shawnee National forest with upscale amenities. Perfect cottage for 2 couples to share as each bedroom/bath are exactly the same. Great for a couple days or a week. 2 night minimum stay. A full size kitchen and outdoor charcoal grill is available. The space Straw bale construction with adobe plaster. The cottage has a living roof that you can walk onto. Indoors, each bedroom has unique sculptured sconces and beer bottles in the wall. The Makanda Inn is a one of a kind eco-friendly lodging retreat in Southern Illinois. Other things to note Firewood Bundles - available for $5.00 each. We also, provide complimentary, locally roasted, coffee beans and tea's with everything you need to enjoy either! There is one ironing board an iron available in the cottage for your use.
