The Garden House

Relax in our garden house in rural Shropshire. You'll be greeted by curious cats and chickens...and probably Allan and me. There's some fabulous walks, a lovely local and some pretty market towns all within easy reach. There's lots of interesting CDs to to play, is all we ask is that you return the CD to its case and to the appropriate place in the shelf. The space Our fabulous wooden chalet is completely self contained...and you can come and go as you please. The chalet comprises a bedroom, a shower room with a loo and a living room. There's also a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and sink. The bed is a double bed and our chalet is most comfortable with one or two guests. The chalet is in a shady part of the garden, surrounded by mature trees. It’s like living in a woodland grove. At night you’ll find our solar lights come on. We rather like to see them twinkling in the trees! We like reading and listening to music so you'll find lots of CDs in the living room. We can guarantee there'll be music that you've never heard before there. You are, of course, welcome to play the music but please don't be tempted to take any with you when you leave. There's no TV, but there's WiFi. Oh, and do look up...we hope you like our chandelier. Guest access While you're staying please treat this as your home, we want you to enjoy your stay and be able to relax. Please feel free to wander about the garden, it's very wild and slightly messy. There’s table outside if it ever gets warm enough to sit out there...if not there are 2 rugs you can wrap around yourselves on the back of the sofa and there are seat pads under the sideboard. You'll find a bottle of organic milk in the fridge, and there's some organic butter for your toast, there's tea, coffee and home made jam and marmalade. And a loaf of bread from the local baker as well. We buy bread and cakes from a fabulous local shop in Pontesbury. It's called Hignetts. Other things to note We live in a very rural area. We are accessible by public transport but it’s not easy - and weekend travel may present a challenge! There is wildlife. There are spiders. Our garden is wild. We like it like that. Things are always in a state of slight chaos here so don't expect a manicured lawn. There are no street lights, or pavements around here. And when it rains it gets muddy. So, we need to be sure you're happy in rural surroundings... Please bring your wellies. We love animals and if you want to bring a dog that may be okay - but we have 5 cats and we don't want them to be chased. We also have belligerent chickens that wander at will. You must be sure to keep your dog on a lead in the garden, and under control at all times. Please talk to us about it if you are unsure. Our cats will insist they are allowed in the chalet. If you want to let them in, you do so at your own risk. They are very badly behaved and will steal your food, put muddy paw prints on your bed linen and clothes and cover the place in cat hair. If you leave the bathroom window open more than a tad Polly Garter will come to join you... You have been warned... Obviously it's your holiday and your choice of what you want to do but we prefer to host people who want to enjoy the area, the beautiful countryside and the local market towns and hostelries. Please try to leave things as you find them.
