Atago, in Hozuto-cho, where the beautiful rice fields and sky spread out, you can experience the relaxed and exciting rural life. On a 930 ㎡ site, there is a 125 ㎡ main house, a 90 ㎡ Japanese garden, a barn with a fireplace and a stone oven, and a backyard field with Karasu-dori chickens and Japanese bees. Depending on the season, you can experience harvesting vegetables, herbs, and fruit trees, cooking, and more with the inn staff. ☆JR Kameoka Station (1.7 km) is conveniently located near a shopping district. You can get there by rental bike. Kameoka to Kyoto 21 minutes, Kameoka to Saga-Arashiyama 10 minutes ☆Hozugawa Descent Boarding Area (1.1 km) Kameyama Castle Ruins, the site of the famous battle of☆ Akechi Mitsuhide (1.9 km) Izumo Taisha Shrine, one of the most powerful spots in☆ Japan (3.8 km) ☆Trolley Kameoka Station (4.2 km) ☆Convenience store (450 m) ☆Restaurant (400 m) The space This is a real traditional house. With its earth walls, sliding doors, shoji, tokonoma, plastering, Hokuyama cedar, Kurama stone, and wide verandas, this is a dignified farmhouse residence that would be almost impossible to build today. The tatami mats are spacious in the Kyomma style. The Japanese garden visible from the sitting room features a 100-year-old Kirishima Tsutsuji, Tsukubai, and Ginkakuji-style pots. The house, made of wood, earth and paper, regulates the temperature and humidity itself. In the summer tatami mat room, you can open the windows and feel the wind blow through, which is very cool, and experience the wisdom of the people of old. When it gets chilly outside, you can warm up with the winter sunlight coming in from the south-facing veranda. You can feel that the tatami mat room is cool in summer and warm in winter, which is different from the coldness of the flooring. Although it was built in 1980, the kitchen, toilet, and bath have been renovated to be fully electric and barrier-free, so you can have a comfortable stay. In July 2019, we created a tsubo garden that can be viewed from the bath. Enjoy your bathing time while watching the traditional garden that feels the four seasons. Accommodation is limited to one group, but the family that owns the accommodation lives there. We go to bed early at night and get up early in the morning. Please be quiet after 9 pm. Also, please note that there will be sounds such as footsteps from early morning, so please only book if you understand this. Please do not bring pets into the Japanese-style room (to prevent damage to the shoji, tatami mats, and pillars). Please help us by tying your pet to the barn next to the main house. Guest access I can pick you up at Kameoka station on the day of check-in, so please let me know your expected arrival time by the day before. If you don't need a pick-up, we'll be waiting for you at home. You can use the first floor of the main house. Part of the second floor and the first floor are locked and cannot be used. Please do not climb the stairs to the second floor as the structure is dangerous. During your stay This is a hands-on farmhouse limited to one group per day. The owner's family lives here. Since it is a farmhouse, depending on the season, you can experience harvesting vegetables and cooking. Just let me know what you'd like when you book. We can also provide a guide to nearby attractions that can be reached by bicycle or car. Other things to note My wife, Sachiko, passed away at the end of 2022. Her husband, Shinsu, and daughter will take over her will and continue to run the inn, so we look forward to continuing to work with you. The building is a 40-year-old wooden house with dirt walls and tatami mats, a real Japanese house. There is no soundproofing, so you can hear the outside well. We got new tatami mats in July 2019. The new tatami mats smell like fresh grass. The smell may feel strong to those who are not used to it. We try to clean and prevent insects, but sometimes insects come in from outside.
