Shag Point Retreat

Our tranquil ocean side retreat, overlooking a tidal reef, is conveniently located a 15 minute drive to the famous Moeraki boulders, a 40 minute drive to the historic town of Oamaru and just 10 minutes to Palmerston for shopping . Shag Point Retreat offers private gardens, a unique base for exploring and also a quiet respite “off the beaten track”. Close by a wide sweeping sandy bay. Or head to the Conservation reserve, a 10 minute walk - coastal views, seals and bird life abounds. The space Our Beach style Bungalow has a homely feel with its eclectic furnishings including a piano, range of books and puzzles. Shag Point Retreat has its own entrance and gardens that are totally private and fully fenced in. Perched cliff side high above the high tide mark, the views will hold you mesmerized with an amazing variety of birds, marine life and ocean moods in sync with the tidal flows, moon bathed sea vistas and first light sunrises. Two bedrooms have comfortable Queen Beds; the larger room has the sea and reef views the other smaller room outlooks onto a small green garden. The living spaces have single beds for those daily naps or if you have additional people (the request for additional people, children and pets are at our discretion). A well-stocked utility kitchen can have you cooking up a storm, open plan dining and a separate snug for reading, DVD or Netflix viewing. We supply coffee, tea and milk. A comfortable patio is adjacent to the living areas in a garden. There is street side Parking. Other things to note Wifi is limited, we are unable to offer unlimited Wifi. Our access is a rural mobile network plan and we need to ask guests to limit use to general emails and travel research. Downloading Movies e.g. Netflix and Gaming will result in future guests missing out. We recommend guests to download on their own devices movies etc at a unlimited wifi location before they visit us.
