Located on a country dirt road, near the D&H Rail-Trail, nestled on 4 acres among pines & hardwoods, you truly feel like you're secluded in your own world. The house has a cozy, farmhouse feel with all the modern comforts of a home away from home & is also fun for kids! It sleeps 7 plus a sofa, queen sleeper sofa, & room for air mattresses too. There is a large covered back deck, backyard fire pit, BBQ Grill, plus a kitchen equipped with all you need for entertaining--just add food & drink! The space The D&H Rail-Trail, just 500 feet from your driveway, is popular for biking, hiking, snowmobiling and provides access to 450 miles of trail. Elk Mountain Ski Resort is 9 miles/25 minutes. The Susquehanna River is 10 miles, Delaware River 20 miles for fishing and water sports plus the PA State Game Lands are very close for hunting. On our adjacent 16-acre property, very close to home, you are welcome to enjoy our private, stocked pond for fishing, swimming or a place to enjoy your kayak rentals. We also have some nature trails for exploring. Guest access There is a long driveway from the road and plenty of room for lots of parking up in front of the garage area. Guests may use the entire main level of the house. They enter thru the lower level in the driveway into a large foyer/mud room that they are welcome to use for storage of bags, footwear, skiing & other sporting equipment, etc.. and they walk upstairs to the main level, but other than that, the lower level is not used. As you are deep in the country, the neighborhood is sparsely populated and it is quiet and peaceful. Other things to note We are excited to have just finished building a roof over the back deck! Now there is a cool, shaded 15 foot x 40 foot space to enjoy the outdoors and do some grilling and relaxing! In the colder months, the house's main source of heat is a pellet stove centrally located in the living/dining room area. For those with small children, we offer a baby gate/fence that can be configured to fit around it for utmost safety. Also, the stove needs pellets added daily and a tiny bit of maintenance every other day. The process takes no more than 5 minutes. We will arrange with you when the best time is to for myself or hubby to stop in and do it. We apologize--we don't want to infringe on your privacy, we just want to keep you warm! We can even stop in while you are out if you prefer. Thank you for understanding. We are not opposed to teaching guests what needs to be done so they can tend the stove themselves, it's quite simple, but we don't want anyone to feel obligated to do it. Safety first.
