We are a family run place offering authentic bungalows with a twist of style for only 20 guests. Set amidst a lush tropical garden, it’s a heaven for a variety of beautiful butterflies. The 9 charming bungalows are spread out on a small hill, with views over the lush tropical garden and the mountains. All rooms are built with locally grown wood and come with bamboo ceilings and polished wooden floors, and are just a few steps away from the swimming pool. Your host will be Quentin, the French manager who takes care of your needs and wishes together with his enthusiastic Lao team. Most probably, you will also meet me, Holger (German), and my Lao wife Aloun. We are the owners who made a dream come true. The mission was to create a unique place that we love and embrace, and that we can share with our guests from all over the world. THE ROOM RATES INCLUDE BREAKFAST. Lunch and diner are served in the a la carte restaurant. Hillside offers a outdoor swimming pool, a herbal steam bath,organic garden, bicycle rental, petanque court, a beach volley ball court and a couple of self-guided treks. For this we hand out a map. Further on it is easy to access to two nearby waterfalls and some ethnic authentic villages by feet. One of us, whether Aloun, Holger or Pierre will be around all the time. Aloun is of Laotian nationality and Holger explored almost every inch in Laos by motorbike. Therefor we are happy to give advises concerning excursions around Luang Prabang or even concerning the planning of the ongoing travel in Laos after you stay at Hillside. We are remote in the mountains and surrounded by farmland and jungle. Selfguided trekking, waterfall, Nahm Dong Park and Bear sanctuary all close by. Our lodge is a 40 minutes drive from town. We do have daily join-in transfers from Luang Prabang town to Hillside at 4 USD per person at 11.00am and 5.30pm. We can arrange private transfers from the airport or train station at 35 USD per car. If you arrive individually by tuk tuk or by car, we will send you a sign in Lao language that you can show to your driver. The Hillside is signposted along the way up to Ban Xien Muark/ Nam Dong Park Another possibility is to use the LOCA app, this is the Laotian version of Uber.
