Ocean, River, Mountain Retreat

Experience living in an authentic Japanese farmhouse surrounded by rice fields and fresh, clean rivers. The guesthouse is tucked away in an often misty valley on a road with very little traffic. Your vista as you leave your car is also of yuzu fields, a citrus fruit Mihara has become famous for. The guesthouse is an old kominka but the kitchen and bathroom are more recent additions making the house comfortable for families without taking away from the traditional charm of your environment. The space Japanese families love coming to stay so that they can show their children how their food is grown and also share with their children the kind of house they stayed in when they visited grandma and grandpa when they were kids. They also love using the BBQ provided to prepare many of the delicious local dishes. Foreign visitors can step back in time and get a taste of how life used to be when simple and seasonal treats and activities were looked forward to. The beds are on the floor but the floor mattresses are all doubled so everyone can get a good nights sleep. The ocean is from 20min away where you can enjoy surfing, swimming, fishing and diving. I can tell you of secret spots to get to the river where it will be all yours and I can share some nice hiking spots. The house is yours to use but there is one room at the back that is private. There are actually 4 living tatami areas for you to use. Two rooms are convenient for bedrooms as they can be made private with curtains. All beds are inside a mosquito net. Another room is a half room, great for luggage. The last room is a sittting/entertainment room with a speaker system, cushions etc. The kitchen is fully self-contained. The BBQ is charcoal. The stars at night are bright and feel so close. Guest access Inside the house is all yours (except for one room at the back) There is a garden at the front and back. You are welcome to walk and explore but they are not designed to be guest friendly Other things to note Parking is available but you need to take care as there are no side rails.
