This is a traditional Okinawan wooden house with a tatami room and a Western-style bedroom. It is equipped with a Western-style kitchen, toilet and bathroom. Please make a reservation for 5 people or more when there is a big event on this island and contact us in advance if you are staying for more than 6 people. The space This red roof tiles house was built by Okinawan traditional wooden construction technology and it has withstood and is still standing upright despite strong typhoons that hit the island every year for long time. It has a high ceiling, making the house seem larger and spacious. The photos of this house in the listing are proof that it stood firm during World War II and was not destroyed. This is one of the very rare photos in Iheya village and Okinawa. There are only a handful of such traditional wooden houses left in Okinawa after the Okinawan war, and this number is continuing to decrease year by year due to the amount of work and money needed to maintain the house. Due to its history and traditional architecture, Okinawan traditional wooden houses are the island's treasures. Guest access The whole house is available for guest's use. Okinawan traditional houses do not have a designated front entrance, please lock a sliding door of the kitchin when you go out. Other things to note This is an original traditional house that was lived in in the past. It is different from typical hotels, so there might be inconveniences sometimes. The island is rich in nature and there might be instances when insects (such as mosquitoes, cockroaches) and lizards enter the house.
