The Tank House was built from an original water tank house on one of the town’s oldest properties. Before modern conveniences of electricity and public water mains, residents used this tank house to supply and store their own water for their house and garden. When it was used for its primary purpose, this tank house functioned using a windmill and a hand-dug well. The windmill pumped the well water into the tank at the top of the tank house, so the water could run down to the house and garden. Our office is located at the front of the property and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. The General Manager and owner are available after hours for emergencies. During your stay, learn about the town’s rich German history, tour the Wildseed Farms, the largest working wildflower farm in the country, or go horseback riding and picnicking at one of our beautiful parks. Fredericksburg is home to many great museums, like the Pacific War Museum and Pioneer Museum on Main Street. The Market Platz is 1/2 a mile east, just a 10 minute walk. Here there are many festivals, including Oktoberfest, the local farmer's market in the summer, live music and thousands of lights decorating the entire Market Platz for Christmas. Fredericksburg is a very walkable town, but if you're looking to just relax, you can also call an Uber, Lift or a local taxi. The breakfast is a light, un-hosted breakfast in your cottage upon arrival. It includes sweet german pretzels and oatmeal raisin cookies, made by a local baker. Along with cereal, milk, orange juice, water, coffee, creamer, sugar, hot tea, hot chocolate, and popcorn for snacking. The cottage is stocked with an electric wine opener, wine glasses, champagne flutes, water glasses, coffee mugs, plates, bowls and silverware.
