Basic Single Rm in W. Sheff., S10 nr. uni & hosps

Charming Victorian (1881) stone house in Crookes, Sheffield, 15 mins west of the city centre and close to amenities - a great location for universities, hospitals and parks. On the main road just around the corner there are a number of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Three of us live here. The space PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING!! (....due to previous unpleasant experiences!) Things to note: Please do NOT send messages at 3am asking for an immediate check-in. I will not see the message as I will be asleep, and this time of the morning belongs to the previous evening's booking. I may already have a guest. Please, also, do not make a booking in the morning and then ring me to ask if you can check in immediately and sit in my lounge until my current guest leaves at 11am. My check-in time is 4pm onwards. Please do NOT ask about early check-in/late check-out. Due to the nature of my work, I am NOT able to answer the door between 11am - 4pm. (Late night check-in might be possible. Please feel free to ask about this). Please do NOT ask me to collect you and your luggage from the train station, airport etc. Please do NOT ask if you and a friend may share the single bed. The booking is for ONE person only. Please do NOT ask me to contact taxi companies to ask them about their prices to far away destinations. Similarly, please do NOT ask me to find out bus routes to far away destinations. I am not a tour operator. I am certain that with technology at your fingertips, you are more than able to sort this out yourselves. Please do let me know an approximate time of arrival. If a date is showing as not available, you are welcome to ask if it might be made available. It might be possible if there isn't already a guest occupying the room. If you are not a verified Air BnB member with a photograph, full profile and previous reviews, I will decline the request to book, without exception. Please do NOT ask to make private arrangements outside of Air BnB. We keep regular hours, in that we sleep at night and work during the day. Please read the Additional Rules page re noise etc (And now the nice bits.......) Small, single, basic room, comprising single bed, bedside table and lamp, hangers, curtains (window opens), multiple sockets, mirror and laminate floor. There is a lock on the bedroom door. Shared bathroom (bath and shower), towels and hairdryer. Use of dining room, lounge, kitchen, patio/outside dining area. This is a household of three people. We offer short-term stays to individuals. If you are looking for something modern and hi-tech, this is not the house for you. We don't operate a pristine, maid-serviced guest house with all the mod cons. This is our home, and it is well-lived-in and loved. I don't run this as a 'business'. The house was built in 1881 and has wonky door frames and most light switches are outside the rooms, to name a couple of quirks. We are happy for guests to prepare their own food and help themselves to drinks. We MIGHT be able to offer a simple breakfast, either cereal or toast, possibly eggs etc. but we don't really eat breakfast in this house and seldom have any breakfast food. We rarely, if ever, consume milk products and so if you like fresh milk with your coffee, it might be prudent to bring your own or to give me plenty of notice to buy some. We offer more of a room-only arrangement rather than any kind of B 'n' B set-up with lavish breakfast! Guests are welcome to share our lounge space. This is quite a laid-back household, so guests can feel free to come and go, sit with us or spend time alone. If arriving on a bike, it may be chained to the rack in the back garden, which is secure. The garden is fenced and there is a locked, iron gate at the front of the property which keeps secure the side passage leading to the back of the house. Guest access Guests may use the bathroom, dining room, lounge, kitchen and patio. The private guest bedroom is on the first floor and so guests will need to be able to manage stairs (which are quite steep). The bathroom is also upstairs. During your stay This is a three-person house. It is likely that there will be some interaction as we, the residents, will be at home. You are welcome to use our shared spaces, such as lounge, dining room, patio, kitchen Please be mindful that we keep regular hours (ie we work during the day and sleep at night - please keep noise to a minimum after 9pm). Other things to note Parking is available on the street although, as the houses do not have drives, it can sometimes be a challenge to find a space late at night. However, one benefit is that there isn't any permit parking and so guests may park for free in this suburb. I am NOT able to offer early check-in or later check-out. Please read the 'Arrival Guide' and 'House Manual' contained in this listing. Hopefully, they should answer most of your questions in advance of your stay with us.
