Description
An ‘Amazing Spaces’ inspired shipping container conversion, set in a peaceful secluded wildlife friendly garden, at the foot of the Pennine hills. The container is a 5 minute walk from the picturesque Talkin village which has a friendly pub serving food. A woodburning stove (logs supplied) ensures the container stays cosy in all weathers. It makes an excellent base to explore Hadrian's Wall, the North Lakes and the Eden Valley.. or a perfect stop off point on your way to or from Scotland. The space The container is ideal for nature lovers, walkers and birdwatchers, with an excellent view of the bird feeders from the comfort of your armchair! There's plenty of room to sit out on the reclaimed wood decking in summer and the wood-burning stove keeps it cosy and warm in winter. It is perfect for star gazing on clear nights in winter due to the lack of light pollution. The container is set in its own completely private space (not overlooked by the house) and offers: Spacious decking with seating. Shower room and toilet in main house (50 metres from container). Double bed (fresh cotton bedding and natural down duvet). Towels (one per guest). Sink and double gas burner (mains cold water supply only). Crockery and basic cooking equipment, but be aware there is limited food preparation space. Variety of teas, ground and instant coffee. Cool box with frozen ice packs provided. Radio. Books, chess, backgammon, Scrabble and playing cards. Logs, paper and kindling are provided free of charge for the woodburning stove. Barbecue (charcoal £2.50 bag). Wifi available near the house, but not in the container. Phone signal can also be limited. Guest access You have the exclusive use of a shower room and toilet in the main house (separate entrance, accessible 24 hours). Other things to note Check the directions provided when booking as the postcode will not take you to the right house! The nearest public transport is Brampton railway station (4km away) and there are buses from Brampton (5km) to Carlisle/Newcastle. There is no wi-fi in the container (though the house wi-fi is available and the password will be provided). There is limited food preparation space in the container but basic cooking utensils are supplied. The wood-burner is the only source of heat in the container which in the winter I will leave laid and ready to light for you. Logs, paper and kindling are supplied. If you arrive after dark you will need to bring a torch as the path along to the container is unlit. In winter the garden can be muddy! There is a £10 fee for pets, payable when booking. Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome, but please be aware that I have two cats and chickens . The garden fence and hedge are not dog proof so you will need to keep an eye on your pet.
