The Herb Farm Cottage - An Idyllic Rustic Retreat

The Herb Farm Cottage is a world of it's own in rural Grehan Valley. Here in the country garden stream side setting of the former Herb Farm (New Zealand's first opened in 1976) you will find the original cottage with the ground floor studio/bed sitting room and adjoining parlour. Relax and enjoy the special setting of flowers, wishing well, native bird life, frogs, friendly free range chooks, ducks on the pond and a great night sky. All just a 15 minute stroll to the village and seaside. The space Of the cottage only the ground floor is available for guests (upstairs owner's storage). The ambience is one of simple storybook rustic charm. Cozy and comfortable inside offset by outdoor dining options and sun loungers in the garden. An abundance of varied books and magazines are on hand in the parlour. A short walk down the garden path (30 metres) is a standalone shower room with toilet and hand basin (spot lit at night). No kitchen, however we do provide tea and coffee making facilities and toaster and there is a food preparation area so you can whip up a cheeseboard and a picnic. Bottled water provided. Easy access up the valley to some of Akaroa's best walking tracks. Enjoy a coffee sitting next to the stream with fantails and kereru flying around ancient kahikatea, totara and matai trees. The property is not suitable for infants and young children, due to a fast flowing stream bordering the property and a seperate pond.
