Black Duck Cottage, Maroochy River, Sunshine Coast

A beautiful cottage beside the river, huge bedroom upstairs with four-poster bed. Small kitchen, shower and dining area downstairs. Your own fire pit with river views, the cottage is well away from the main house. River access, for kayaking or fishing, or just sitting and relaxing. 3 kms from the award winning Spirit House Restaurant, a perfect stay if you are attending Its cooking school, or enjoying dinner there. We are 1.5km from the Rocks restaurant, ideal if attending a wedding at The Rocks The space A private two story cottage on the Maroochy river, with river and Mount Ninderry views. The cottage is away from the main house, maintaining privacy. There are steps next to the cottage leading down to the river, for your own secluded riverside pleasure. There is a fire pit for a camp fire. Continental breakfast is included. The kitchen has a microwave, sandwich press/grill and toaster. Also a single hot plate with fry pan. All linen, towels and toiletries are provided. There is a comfortable sofa in the lounge area downstairs, and dining table. The upstairs bedroom has a four poster bed, desk, chair, and fan. The views of the river and mountain are stunning. Check out is by 10 am however if you wish to leave later this is generally OK, just let us know. We are on Collins Road, so you will hear traffic noise as cars drive on this road to get to mount Ninderry and Fair Hill nursery, drop children at school and drive to their homes. So although rural, it is not silent so please be aware. We are also just a few minutes' drive from the Maritime Career training centre in Kulangoor (just outside Yandina) so perfect if you are booked for any courses there. There is a washing machine and another large fridge freezer in the workshop opposite the cottage, offered to guests staying 3 days or longer. Please ask if you would like to use them. I have a fold out single bed that can be used downstairs if you are 2 single friends not wishing to sleep in the same bed. You must ask for this at time of booking please. There is no extra charge. Third person wishing to stay? Fold out bed downstairs is available for $30 extra per night. Guest access The cottage is a separate building away from the house and has its own keys, you can access it any time of the day or night. Let me know if you plan to arrive late so I can ensure lights are left on for you. Park your car inside, directly next to the cottage. Although the property has a closed gate ( to keep the dogs from wandering) it is not lockable, just push it to open it. Beside the cottage are some concrete steps leading down to the river, this is a private space for the cottage, specifically for you to use during your stay if you wish. Please note, this rural property is surrounded by trees and beside a river. Native wildlife including birds and possums reside in this area. local events include: Nambour Caravan and camping show April and end of August Nambour Garden Expo July. Nambour swap meet July . Collectarama every 6 months (early March & September) All Nambour events are at the Showgrounds in Nambour. The Spirit House, Thai restaurant and cooking school and The Rocks Restaurant are just a few minutes from here. We are also just 5 minutes' drive from the Maritime Career training centre in Kulangoor (just outside Yandina) The Nutri-tech Solutions in Yandina which runs soil regenerative courses is also a few minutes drive away. Please note, there is no public transport here, the closest train station is Yandina, a 3km walk across busy roads. You do need a vehicle to stay here comfortably. Other things to note We have 2 friendly dogs, Lucky the young black Kelpy, (12 months) and Tilly the white cattledog (14 years) who will no doubt greet you at some time. There are some board games, DVDs and books available for you to enjoy. TV reception is very poor, although it is a smart TV so you can use your own netflix etc if wished.
