Eclectic suite with access to the sea and pool.
Description
A peaceful, airy master suite with an ensuite bathroom, set furthest from the main house for maximum privacy. Characterful details—like a hand-carved wooden bed from France and a grand closet from Turin—blend classic charm with a thoughtful, contemporary touch. A private outdoor area with a small kitchenette and BBQ offers a close connection to the sea and quiet evenings under the stars. Guests also enjoy access to Mèlisses’ rocky seaside with shaded pergolas for swimming, reading, or relaxing. The space Mèlisses is a home away from home for the curious mind on the wild and unfiltered isle of Andros. Operating as a boutique bed and breakfast during the summer season, it caters to twelve guests only. The ethos of Mèlisses is to embrace slow living, celebrate the seasons, and bring together a community of people. With a small team at the helm, no detail goes unturned. From the homemade touches we prepare in the kitchen to our curated guide to the island, we celebrate everything Greece has to offer. Throughout the season, the house comes alive with scenic suppers and retreats, curated by Italian-born creative director and founder Allegra Pomilio — an invitation to share beautiful plates and unforgettable views. Guest access Communal Spaces: When Mèlisses is open for the season, the main house welcomes you as a communal reception and gathering space from 8:00 to 20:00. It’s a warm place to start your morning, meet our team, plan your day, or simply enjoy the setting. After 20:00, the main house closes for the night, but all outdoor lounges, terraces, and quiet corners remain available to guests at all times. These spaces are yours to enjoy freely — for stargazing, a quiet chat, or a moment by the sea. Our team is present each morning and always reachable via phone should you need anything at all. Food and additional services: In season, morning service is offered, and occasional communal suppers may take place. All other meals are self-catered. Extra services such as grocery delivery, private chefs, curated experiences, housekeeping, babysitting — are available at an additional fee. Cleaning and amenities: Cleaning takes place each morning during breakfast time. Linens and towels are refreshed every three days, though we’re always happy to bring extra towels if you need them — just let us know. Beach towels are provided for your days by the water, along with locally made bath amenities for you to enjoy throughout your stay. Swimming Pools: Mèlisses offers both shared and private saltwater pools across the property. All pools are unheated, unsupervised, and deeper than 1.40m. They are available for guest use throughout the season with the understanding that swimming is entirely at your own risk. Children must always be closely supervised, as no pool on the property is patrolled. Sea access and water safety: A series of pathways and around 100 steps lead down to the sea — natural, rocky, and beautifully untouched. In summer, shaded pergolas and wooden deck chairs rest just above the water, where dolphins and seals occasionally glide past. Sea access is always at your own risk. All beaches in Greece are public by law. The shoreline and any pre-existing pathways below Mèlisses are not owned or controlled by the property. We provide an opening for access, but the path and beach area are not our responsibility. If you have any doubts, feel free to request additional photos or ask questions before booking; once the reservation is confirmed, you acknowledge and accept this. Atmosphere and Comfort: Mèlisses is wonderfully quiet — you’ll mostly hear the wind, the birds, and the sea. Quiet hours apply after 22:00 to preserve this sense of calm. Heating and Cooling: All rooms feature air conditioning that can cool or heat. Additional plug-in heaters are available in colder months. Fireplaces exist only in the main house, which is closed in winter. All rooms are provided with extra blankets and duvets during the winter months. Water Consumption: Like most Cycladic islands, Andros relies on a limited water supply. Please use it thoughtfully. Families and young children: Children are welcome, though the property’s natural terrain may not be suitable for very young children or those requiring constant mobility support. Supervision is recommended at all times, especially near the pool and the sea. High chairs, baby utensils, and babysitting can be provided upon request. Arrival and Transportation: The road leading to Mèlisses is unpaved, steep, and without a side barrier — part of the landscape and part of the experience. A 4x4 or high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended, especially in summer. Driving to and from the property is at the guest’s own discretion and risk. If you have any questions, please contact us before booking. For those less confident drivers, we’re happy to help arrange private taxis — just ask. We can assist with arranging private taxis. House location: For privacy, the property is not accurately listed on Google Maps. Detailed directions will be shared before your arrival. Mèlisses sits about 20 minutes from Gavrio port and 10 minutes from Batsi, tucked in a quiet, secluded corner of Andros. Other things to note Emergencies: Andros has a local medical centre. Our team can assist in contacting local services, but we are not medical professionals and cannot guarantee response times or availability of emergency services. All emergency numbers will be included in your Welcome Booklet. Laundry service: Laundry is handled by our team and available on request for an additional fee. There is no self-service laundry. If you have any questions before booking, we’re always here to help you decide if Mèlisses is the right place for your stay. Registration Details 00002279871
