Description
This private room within my house is the perfect spot for your quick midweek stay. This well-equipped and updated late-1800s home will immediately set you in the mood for Santa Barbara Living. Casa Alamar is walking distance to several popular restaurants + coffee shops, as well as Trader Joe's and just about anything else you'd need. Just over a mile to downtown Santa Barbara and three miles from the waterfront. Does it get more convenient? The space Originally constructed in 1896, Casa Alamar exudes a certain charm often lacking in newer construction, but lacks none of the convenience. After a foundation-up renovation in 2012 and a design upgrade in 2020, you’ll be both charmed and comfortable in this farmhouse with a mid-century modern twist. This home was even featured on the cover of Casa Magazine! In addition to the sleeping quarters, guests will enjoy the living/dining area, which features high ceilings and a 60” smart TV, as well as a small but very functional kitchen. Don't forget about the inviting backyard area with jacuzzi spa for enjoying that wonderful indoor/outdoor Santa Barbara lifestyle! Venturing out into the neighborhood from the wrap-around porch of Casa Alamar, guests will appreciate the proximity of Handlebar Coffee, which is always abuzz thanks to their reputation as the best coffee shop in town. Within easy walking distance, one can also find Tex-Mex, Thai, Japanese, Indian, Mexican, Italian, and American food. Additionally, within less than half a mile, Trader Joe's, Grocery Outlet, and Bevmo cater to your in-home food and libation needs. In the opposite direction (but no more than 5 minutes walk) is the park for which the neighborhood is named. Oak Park features large grassy spaces shaded by trees, barbecue, playground, and party areas, and two recently resurfaced tennis courts. With no more than a 5-10 minute Uber ride, one can reach the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, the beach, and the Santa Barbara Mission, to name just a few of the main accessible points of interest. There is also a bus-stop within a quarter-mile of the house that can take you to the majority of the points of interest in Santa Barbara as well as the AMTRAK station. From your quiet, historic perch the entirety of Santa Barbara is at your grasp...or, you might just find yourself unable to leave Casa Alamar at all! Guest access Guests have access to their private bedroom, a bathroom across the hall that is exclusively for their use (I live in the master suite on the other side of the house). Guests and I share the common living room and kitchen spaces. Outside, guests also have access to the sizable wraparound porch and back yard with jacuzzi and grassy area. During your stay I live in the master bedroom of Casa Alamar, but I travel about a quarter of the year and when I'm not traveling, I'm on the courts teaching tennis seven days a week. Whether I'm around or on the go, I'll be available by text should any questions arise, the goal being to allow my guests to enjoy their Santa Barbara time as they please. Having lived in SB for more than 10 years, I'll also be able to provide many suggestions for activities, restaurants, nature, and locals spots.
