Matakana Hill Country Retreat

Sitting on a ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Hauraki Gulf, Matakana Hill Country Retreat offers modern holiday accommodation for two-three families and is located just one hour north of Auckland and 12-15 minutes from Matakana Village. Situated in a secluded natural setting surrounded by native bush at an elevation of 1200ft giving breathtaking 180+ degree views which sweep from Whangarei Heads in the north and across to the Coromandel Peninsula to the south east. The space The house features five bedrooms, three bathrooms with large outdoor living spaces designed to make the most of the panoramic views and peaceful environment. There is a main lounge in the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area and a second lounge/children's play room that doubles as bedroom #5 with a sofa sleeper. The kitchen includes a Breville Oracle Espresso machine (some coffee beans included), ice making fridge, separate wine/beverage fridge, 6 burner gas stove and dishwasher. The house is ideal for children with a play ground, trampoline, sand pit, spa pool, toys (for 3-8 year olds) and large lawn areas. The house is fully air conditioned, has a 20Mbps internet connection/wifi, smart TV, Netflix, Apple TV (own account required). The house can take 10 adults/children + infants. Bedroom#1 is a large master bedroom with Californian king bed and ensuite. Bedroom #2 is located at the other end of the house from the other bedrooms, along with the main bathroom, proving separation of bedroom/bathroom areas. Bedrooms #3 & #4 each have two single beds and are located near the second bathroom and near the master bedroom. Bedroom #5 is a second lounge/room with a second TV and a sofa bed ideal for two children or two smaller adults. There are also children's (4-8 year olds) toys and books available. This room makes and ideal children's play room or second lounge. Guest access Please be aware that the house is located 3.6km down an unsealed/gravel (council maintained) road. (You do not need a 4WD.) Guests can access the whole house and property, apart from the office space (1 room - used for storage). Other things to note All bed linen and towels are provided. Extra infants are welcome if you have bedding. There is also a Big Green Egg charcoal fired BBQ. We provide charcoal for this. The house also has an 8.2kw solar power system (as well as being connected to the mains power grid), making the house a net exporter of electricity.
