Rainforest Birdhouse - teak cabin on 40 acres
Rainforest Birdhouse - teak cabin on 40 acres
Description
The property is ideal for people seeking perfect quiet and privacy. This beautiful wooden cottage is perched above green lawns and pond with views across the fields from the front veranda, and into the rainforest from the wide shaded back deck. It’s a great base for boating on the Myall Lakes, kayaking, hiking in the forest, surfing at nearby Seal Rocks, bird watching, or just snuggling down in front of a warm fire with a book. The space The house was imported as a kit from Indonesia in the 1980s, and is ideally suited to catch the breeze and provide wide shaded indoor/outdoor spaces to sit, eat, read, and watch the birds. There are three large bedrooms, each with ceiling fans, a large sitting and dining room, with a wood burning stove which keeps the whole house cosy in the winter. The kitchen is old style, but large and fully equipped, with all the gear you will need to cook up a storm. There is one modern bathroom with a walk-in shower and a full-sized bath, plus an additional loo in the laundry, and also a hot shower outside in the garden for those who really want to connect with nature! Guest access There is lots to explore on the 40 acres. Many birds visit the house each day, and little red wallabies nibble the lawns morning and evening. We also have a wilderness to explore right on the property, for those who like a little more adventure. If you like a swim try the two dams closer along the driveway. Your toes will get muddy but the water is clean. Boolambayte Creek runs across the back of the property, and there are a couple of kayaks for guests to use to explore the creek when it’s high enough, or the nearby Boolambayte Lake, part of the beautiful Myall Lakes National Park. Enjoy the property but we take no responsibility. Be careful. Other things to note I just want to remind you that the Birdhouse is not a motel. Our wooden cabin has the home comforts of electricity, wifi and flushing loos, but it is right in the middle of the bush, so creepy crawlies come with the territory. We don’t use poison or insecticides outside the house. Violet Hill Road is unsealed, and bumpy, but accessible by 2-wheel drive cars. We have satellite broadband, but we have a limit on downloads for each month, so streaming movies is limited. We do have free to air TV and a phone reception booster for any mobile phone services that use the Telstra network. We’re sorry but we can’t allow pets. The property is adjacent to the National Park, and we don’t want wandering pets to get lost, or to tangle with the local fauna. We are currently planting koala habitat, and it essential there be no threats to native animals. Registration Details PID-STRA-2985
