Home in Redland

Just over a mile from central Bristol with the feel of a country house in the city is this lovely quiet old stone-built home. Intentionally kept to 6/7 people so you have plenty of space. Several local restaurants a level walk round the corner, including two Michelin listed, and numerous more within 10-15 minutes. The University, Downs, Spire and just about every imaginable amenity are walkable or a short Uber ride. Local train and free on-street parking by permit (ask me, up to 2 vehicles). The space Spacious, double-fronted 1860s-built house. Gardens back and front. Generous-sized rooms including separate dining and living rooms - no cramming in here. Two double and two single bedrooms. 7th space created with a futon in one of the single rooms. Two of the bedrooms (one double and one single) have large tables to work at. Separate bath and shower rooms (both with toilet), factory restored original Victorian clawfoot bath. Well-equipped kitchen. No dishwasher sorry - but there are numerous options nearby to have the dishes done for you! The house isn't set up for EV charging. Free on-street parking (ask me to register you for visitor parking, max 2 cars). Half-hourly local train 7 minutes walk away. Buses to town every few minutes along the nearby corridors 8-10 minutes away, and the less frequent 71 stops just around the corner. The highly acclaimed, Michelin listed Wilsons and Little Hollows restaurants are a minute's level walk, and the upscale Kensington, 2 minutes away, is the project of a Michelin-starred chef. Numerous diverse and more modest options and pretty much every amenity you could wish for are within a mile. Wonderful, big green spaces within walking distance or a short drive. Please note, due to the very quiet neighbourhood and thinner-than-you'd-expect walls to my (lovely) neighbours, the house doesn't work for a lively celebration. This is an in-use home. Although most personal things will be stowed away there are some belongings (e.g. books) in the receptions and kitchen. You can share in things that are on view, including teas, coffee, olive oil and a wealth of kitchen spices - no need to shop for basics. There are also fresh herbs and sometimes fruit from the garden! Stays over 21 days may require setting up and signing of a suitable tenancy agreement. Guest access The place will be all yours, apart from a fifth, locked bedroom I use to store belongings while I'm away. Other things to note Driving and parking in Bristol are best avoided; Redland has a good local train service. The house is in a residents' parking zone - if you're driving here, from 9am-5pm Mon-Fri you'll need a visitor's permit. Ask me to register your cars. We are very limited in the number of permits we can buy so I have to limit permits to two cars. Please give me at least 24 hours notice. As you'll have the house to yourselves, I may need to ask for your help putting bins out (usually Thursday evening for early Friday collection) and/or bringing them in. This is essential to the smooth running of the house. The bathroom is on the first floor and the shower room on the ground floor. Bedrooms are on the first and second floor. The stairs to the second floor are quite steep. The top two rooms have low doorways and sloping ceilings. I'm 5'7" and hardly notice. The mobile signal can be patchy here especially downstairs, unless you have a recent (5G?) phone. O2 and Vodafone are best.
