Villa Anelli Gardener's Cottage · Ground Floor
Gardener cottage of Villa Anelli · Ground Floor
Description
The gardener’s cottage at Villa Anelli has stood since 1872. The ground floor has been carefully restored: small and cosy, it overlooks a historic botanical garden recognised by ICS International Gardens of Excellence since 2010 and as an open-air museum within the Alto Verbano Museum Network. It is not a holiday flat. It is a place where you can truly unwind. The space Il Cottage del Giardiniere is the ground floor of a 19th-century cottage set within the historic gardens of Villa Anelli, in Oggebbio, on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore. It has a separate, pedestrian-only entrance. The rooms are cosy and well-kept: a very bright bow-window veranda. Stoneware floors, a bathroom with mosaic tiles and a large mirror, a fully equipped kitchen with an induction hob, microwave and dishwasher. The extra bed is a sofa bed in the same room. Small in size. Generous in every other way. A short walk from Piazza Italia in Oggebbio — car park, VCO bus stop, café, pharmacy, grocery shop. Opposite the Albergo Bel Soggiorno, on Via Micotti (pedestrian street). Free public parking. Free public parking in the square, subject to time restrictions. A few bends further up, there is free parking with no time restrictions. to reach back the square, a panoramic path. Free beach reachable walking. One with free showers. There is the possibility to rent also the first floor, which is available in another announcement here on Airbnb. Guest access The flat is accessed via a separate staircase, through a gate onto a pedestrian path below Piazza Italia — next to the public garden, which serves as a small playground. The path and the gate are enlighted at night. Guests have free and independent access to the garden at Villa Anelli: an award-winning arboretum of catalogued camellias, arranged in a collection with complementary flowering periods: over 318 japonica cultivars, colourful in their spring bloom, 40 sasanquas that warm the winter with their vibrant colours, precious tea plants (Camellia sinensis) flowering in September, reticulata, and botanical species. Also bamboo, camellias, azaleas, rhododendrons, maples, hydrangeas, conifers, aromatic plants, water features, secluded corners with wrought-iron tables overlooking the lake, and a vegetable garden where you can pick seasonal produce. On request, we organise: Botany and gardening workshops with Andrea Corneo, an agronomist. Participatory decoration and wine tasting workshops with Orsola, in the garden. We provide a comprehensive guide to local attractions, recommendations on places, restaurants, walking routes and other historic gardens in the vicinity, as well as special rates with guides for excursions in the Val Grande and the surrounding area. At night time the entrance gate and the path leading to the cottage is enlighted. Other things to note The garden consists of a continuous series of narrow paths, some of which are very steep, and at times exposed and dangerous; it is crossed by a small stream, the Rio Paradiso. The village itself, part of which is pedestrianised, is also situated on slopes. We recommend this place to people who love the countryside, are careful, and are used to walking. The studio upstairs, like this one, is available to rent: during your stay, there may be other guests staying there just like you. They’ll have the terrace above your flat to use themselves. You’ll have two secluded, private corners in the garden. We are 26 km from the Borromean Islands, 28 km from Piazza Grande in Locarno, and the Ascona Patriziale Golf Club is 28 km from this apartment. Milan Malpensa Airport is 79 km from the property. If you wish to explore the area, you can go cycling in the surrounding countryside. Allergies and sensitivities We pay close attention to cleaning and products: bed linen washed at high temperature, protective mattress and pillow covers, no strong air fresheners, and the use of mild cleaning and personal care products whenever possible. However, we cannot guarantee that the house is completely “allergen‑free” (dust, pollen, food residues, or possible traces of pets that may have been here in the past). If you have significant allergies (respiratory, food, fragrance or animal-related), please let us know before booking or arrival. We will honestly explain what you can expect in the house (products used, any welcome food items, pet history), so you can safely decide whether the stay is suitable for you. When needed, we can remove any fragrance diffusers, move specific products out of your space and point you to local shops/services that may better match your needs.
