Description
For the first time since we installed it we are opening for the winter months as there are a lot of people around and the weather at the moment is quite warm. To do this we have installed a small oil heater which will keep the temperature up even when the fire is not lit. Once you light the fire it will be really cosy and warm. There is also an electric blanket on the bed for those colder nights. We do reserve the right to move you to the house if the weather becomes inclement. The space During the summer you can BBQ on the decking over looking the lochum. (Bring a disposable BBQ with you). If you are lucky you might spot a Kingfisher although we do discourage Herons as they pinch our fish! Other wildlife you may see are Pinemartins, Foxes, Stoats and Weasels, Red Squirrels and lots of birds and bats. The garden where the Yurt is situated and wood which you have access too is a haven for wildlife. Although quite secluded we do have neighbours and sound travels in the glen so we do ask guests not to play music, but to come here to enjoy the peace and tranquility and the birds singing and the owls hooting at night. Our check in times are 5 pm - 8pm. If you wish to check in earlier let me know before 11am on day of arrival as if we go out we might not be back until 5 oclock. If you wish to check in later than 8 pm, again let me know as soon as possible so that we don't worry about you not arriving. Our latest check in would be 10.00 pm as we then go to bed. Obviously in an emergency i.e. traffic jam or accident we would stay up and wait for you to arrive. Guest access Private decking, wood, stream and part of the garden. Also they are welcome to come up to the house if they need something or want advice on where to visit. We are in during the evenings. Other things to note We have a carbon monoxide alarm as we have a wood burning stove. If this goes off we advise guests to step outside and let us know if there is a problem. More recently a guest complained that a snail came into the Yurt! As it is situated within 8 acres of woodland it is difficult to stop wildlife coming in. We do have badgers, foxes, pine martens, deer, squirrels, wild ducks, herons and domesticated chickens in the garden plus our cat Sam. If this upsets you then it may not be the right place for your holiday. It has been suggested by airbnb to point this out so you can take an overall view regarding wildlife.
