Almost everything new: the space was completely renovated in 2017-18. The perfect home base for a romantic weekend, business travel, or stress-free family adventure. The space Accommodation: a spacious & brightly-lit "English basement" style (1 bedroom) apartment. Clean and uncluttered with plenty of windows and natural light. The keypad-secured front entrance is completely separate from the upstairs Victorian era (c.1890) Washington row house. We recently completed a thorough, floor-to-ceiling basement renovation. Guests control both the central heat & AC so the temperature should always be comfortable. Bedroom: features a very large king-sized bed with new plush bedding. Plenty of closet & shelf space. Bedside flat screen smart TV with a full cable package, WiFi, Netflix, etc. Living Room: features a sofa-sleeper with a queen-sized memory foam mattress. Two sitting/reading chairs are in the bay window cove. A large TV mounted over working remote-controlled electric fireplace. (Note: upon request, a 5th guest can be accommodated with a thick self-inflating air mattress and its bedding.) Kitchen: coffee/tea maker, refrigerator, microwave, traditional oven, 4 burner range, toaster, tile counter-top; glassware, flatware & cooking tools & cutlery supplied. A small "drop-leaf" style table seats 2, but is easily expandable to accommodate 4 diners. Bathroom: contains a shower and full sized bathtub; plush bath and hand are towels provided, as are toiletries, bathroom tissue, and a hairdryer. Washer/Dryer: located in a small utility closet; detergent, an iron, and an ironing board are also provided. Front garden: guests may use the very small front garden. Weather permitting, the small high-top table & 2 swivel chairs are ideal for morning coffee, evening drinks, smoking, or waiting for Uber/Lyft. Guest access The apartment has independent access, including both front & back dead-bolted doors. Guests receive a secure 4-digit entry code to open the front door. Please note 5 brick steps lead to the front entrance. In addition to the small front garden, charming Folger Park is directly across the street and offers plenty of outdoor space. Upon prior request & coordination, guests are free to temporarily store their luggage upstairs with us (before or after their stay). Other things to note Due to the age of the house, you might hear occasional muffled footsteps.
