The Admiral's refuge, in the sheepfold, is an independent gîte nestled on the wild flanks of the west coast, south of Calvi. The location: It is an arm of green hillside of maquis cascading in terraces on a creek of pebbles and large rocks. Nature has been preserved and embellished. Donkeys garden in their own way, humans continue to plant oaks and olive trees. Immortelle, rosemary and lavender are pampered. Isolated silence conducive to meditation, unsupervised swimming that is envisaged by calm sea and walks in the limited maquis. Civilization, the medical center and sandy beaches are 15 km away. Inhabited since prehistoric times by farming breeders and then by coal-burning foresters and reconverted, at the end of the 1960s, to outdoor tourist accommodation, the Clos du Mouflon today awaits a viable reconciliation between the motivations of human presence and its wild and at the same time so vulnerable nature. For a very long time, its territory has supported the "light footprint" of the men who shaped it by adapting to natural constraints. Its dazzling passage, after centuries of a status of a place of work, fatigue, isolation and deprivation, to that of a place of rest, relaxation, contemplation and meeting, still leaves us amazed. The same trees heard the suffering of men and animals as well as, a few years later, the joy of the first employees on paid leave. The same land can also make the difference between the sweat of some and that of others. However, the Clos du Mouflon remains a place that requires a concrete commitment and a lot of energy for its preservation and maintenance. Once again we seek to adapt to the natural environment with a management in perspective of its resources which, with drinking water, wood energy, aromatic essences today also include, more and more threatened, silence, the beauty of the landscape, dark nights and transparent seawater. Thus, alongside the main activities – in terms of the energies involved – of logging, breeding and land maintenance, we welcome travelers in the two cottages to share the time that passes in this special place. This is the beginning of a new journey. We plan the itinerary with you day by day. The road: For the traveler, the access road is initiatory. From Calvi to Galeria, it is a county road that the postman or the shepherd takes all year round without reservation, but the tourist may be surprised by the capricious turns, the delicate passage of two cars and above all the dizzying and abrupt spectacle of a giant sea, burning with sunny reflections a few meters below the drops. Two apartments with independent kitchen equipped with 4/5 beds each with showers and toilets are offered as well as a real cliffside cave-rock and an isolated bedroom with living room Ideas: During the day, a dirt road leads to the creek 700 meters below. A fairly wide cove that can sometimes be visited by boats. The sheepfold is a blessed place for an in-depth reading of the Corsican nap on a rock or in a hammock. The transparent water a few meters away and its multicolored fish can sometimes distract you when it's not the children asking for an adventure on the rocks or a dive to inspect the hidden sea urchins. This gentle agitation will require responsible supervision, caution because the site is wild and steep and nature expresses itself openly.
