La Bita is a lovely typical cottage that overlooks Unesco's Heritage Orcia Valley. The studio flat is part of "Podere Maltaia", a property of 12 independent cottages (each with a private garden and entrance). It's located in the countryside of the medieval hamlet of Radicofani. It is surrounded by 3 hectares of private land including an outdoor swimming pool (opened seasonally Jun-Sep), garden, outdoor dining area, BBQ and free parking area (uncovered). This property is an old farmhouse that was recently restructured and made into a condominium of 12 independent vacation cottages, each with a private garden, entrance and services. It is surrounded by 3 hectares of private land including an outdoor swimming pool (open seasonally June 1 -September 30), garden, outdoor dining area, BBQ and free parking area (uncovered). It is located in the countryside, within walking distance from the medieval hamlet of Radicofani, close to Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Bagno Vignoni and within driving distance from Siena, Florence and Rome. The renovation of the estate has kept all the characteristics of the original architecture, creating beautiful cottages perfect for weekends (3 nights minimum during summertime), weeks or months. The property is 1.1 km (0.7 miles) from the downtown of Radicofani, which has 3 restaurants of typical local cuisine, a grocery, a bakery, a butchery, pubs as well as a pharmacy, a post office, a bank, a police station and its city hall. The countryside location, yet within walking distance from the village, makes it possible to enjoy your stay without driving if you wish. From Radicofani, within 30 minutes of driving, you can reach the Thermal stations of San Casciano dei Bagni, Bagno Vignoni, or San Filippo. In 45 mins/1 hr, the villages of Pienza, Montalcino (known for its Brunello wine), the top of Amiata mountain (6000 feet above sea level), or the historical city of Siena. Florence, Pisa, and Rome are within 2 hours' driving distance, hence making it possible to visit within a day or to reach the airports. Guest access The cottage "La Bita" is a studio apartment (about 50 square meters) on the ground floor, with an independent entrance from the private garden. The entrance leads to the main room with an ornamental fireplace, sofa and kitchenette equipped with stove, refrigerator, freezer and gravel sink. The kitchenette has 2 taps with direct access to the nearby water source of Monte Amiata and is equipped for preparing, cooking, and eating food with pots, pans, cutlery, glasses and plates. A low wall separates the living room from the bedroom, with a double bed and curtains that can be drawn to provide even more privacy. Next to the fireplace and separated from the double bed by a low wall, a single bed can comfortably accommodate an adult or a child. The door leads to the bathroom with a shower and a characteristic sink. Other things to note *) Reservations are accepted for a minimum of 2 nights and 3 nights during summertime (June-September). *) The availability of the pool is seasonal. Since the water is not artificially warmed up, the date from when/until the pool is open depends on the weather temperature and any condominium regulations in force. Over the past 5 years, it has always been possible to open it around the 1st of June until the end of September. The pool is not supervised and its depth varies from 1.10 m to 1.40 m. *) Included in the renting of 7 or more nights is one complimentary usage of the laundry service (a run of the washing machine and one of the dryer machines). For further usage of the laundry service, as well as for renting shorter than 7 nights, the service is charged 5 €. Since the washing and drying machines are located in the garage, which is a private condominium area, when you need to do the laundry, you can prepare your clothes in a bag and hand them over to Sara. She will take care of the laundry and the drying, and then return them to you. *) At the cottage, we provide a "Nespresso" coffee machine, together with a complimentary set of 10 capsules. In case you need more boxes of capsules, you can ask Sara. If you have a Nespresso machine at your own home, you are free to bring your favourite capsules and use them with our Nespresso machine. *) Hand and bath towels. Towels will be changed every 7 days, included in the rental cost. Should you require further towel changes, bed linen changes, or cleaning of the whole apartment, these all need to be arranged with Sara directly, and the costs are: - hand and bath towels 5 € - bed linens 5 € - cottage cleaning 40€ (including changing all towels and bed linens).
