"The White House" Full size family home
The White House is a family home originally constructed in 1914. It is ideally nestled at the base of the presidential range in the White Mountains. This spacious three bedroom, two bath house sits right near major trailheads, swimming, lakes, and even a tennis court. Enjoy a sunset view of the mountains on our wrap around porch or the relax by the gas fireplace in the living room in the evenings. This spot is a perfect base camp for all of your adventures in New Hampshire. This house is very spacious on the inside, with lots of natural sunlight. It retains much of it's original character from the architecture of the early 1900s. For example the living room comfortably seat 6 people and is centered around the fireplace as opposed to the TV. The natural settings are perfect, as you can access most of the best hiking and swimming without having to get in your car. The guests may use the entire house at their pleasure. It's very comfortable and very user friendly. Each room is organized to provide for the needs of the guest without having to search for supplies. Feel free to give me a call on my cell 8604556344. It's very peaceful and quiet. The loudest noise is the chirp of birds (especially a resident falcon in the nearby trees). The air and water are cleaner than anywhere else I have been. People all wave to each other on our street and are very friendly. Life up here usually includes daily hikes, trips to nearby Berlin and Gorham for supplies (Walmart is the only real game in town for groceries), and some bathing in natural waterslides and pools at Mossy Glen for those who prefer icy mountain water to our nice warm shower (I'm happy to give you directions to this). Its a rite of passage for us up here to take the "bracing dip" in the mountain water. It is a place that will stir your soul and calm your mind. You can have a day that is satisfying just watching the clouds roll over the mountains through a blue sky while sipping tea on an Adirondack chair While the outdoors are all available to you without a car, you will need your own transportation to travel to the next town over the hill for supplies or to access the features of Mt. Washington like the Auto Road 1. the remote to operate the gas fireplace is on the mantle above the fireplace 2. The house has excellent water pressure and uses water from a spring-fed well. However the sink in the upstairs bathroom with the claw foot tub is an original sink from 1914. The original piping makes the water in that sink taste of minerals but is still completely fine to use. 3. Feel free to try out the claw foot bathtub. It's one of our family's favorite features of our home.
