Cosy and peaceful West End Attic flat.

Description

This is our stylish, tranquil and centrally located flat in the heart of the west end of Glasgow. Our attic flat has a capacity for 2 adults, but is also perfect for a small family of 2 adults & an infant. Our blonde sandstone, category A listed townhouse is around 175 years old. There are about 74 steps up to the flat door (which includes a quirky 24 step spiral narrow-ish stair at the end) and as expected with a such a heritage property, there also is not a lift. Our STL licence is GL00428F The space The main building has a grand entrance with 175 year old cornice still in place and it’s been restored with gold leaf and burgundy walls, in keeping with the fashionable Victorian colours of the time. These colours continue up the two ‘townhouse’ flights of stairs (24 steps per flight, with a handrail) and then a wee quirky, narrow-ish spiral staircase (also with a handrail) which is a half flight of stairs. This makes a total of approx 74 steps and there is NO LIFT but at least it all helps to burn off some extra calories from the day. 😃🍺🍷🍕. The ultimate reward is a quiet attic flat, which guarantees a refreshing sleep and is priceless in such a vibrant location. And if you need help getting your bags up the stairs, please ask as Colin is usually around to help! When I am on holiday, my priorities are definitely for peaceful night sleep and as our place is situated to the rear of the building, this is essential in helping keep the vibrant bustle of the west end noise to a minimum. We want our guests to feel like they have lived like a local so the flat is equipped like a home, along with the having the best of what Glasgow has to offer on the doorstep. We have also prepared a handy local guide book which is in the flat and covers the best places to explore in the west end, as well as the city centre and further afield. It includes an extensive list of eateries, sightseeing options, pubs, music venues, shopping, theatre and the best things to do with kids. It is eco friendly flat using 100% electric provided from renewable sources and no CO2 is produced, therefore it has a zero carbon footprint. There are hardwood floors throughout the property and most sockets are equipped USBC charging points. The flat has an open plan living area which makes excellent use of the natural light available. In the bedroom, there is a pocket sprung double bed (which is a not a queen size nor large double either, just regular UK size double) with comfortable mattress topper and cool grey bed linen. Within the bedroom, there is a walk in cupboard, natural wood chest of drawers and plenty of storage and hanging space. And because the the flat is so bright, there are blackout blinds to let you have that long lie in. In the airy, open plan living area there is a comfortable sofa bed, with extra padded topper which is kept separate - under the main bed if needed. It is a high end sofa bed, but at the end of the day… it is a sofa bed and thus has its limitations. We also provided double bedding and black out blinds. There is also a large Smart TV with a brand new (Nov 2025) fire stick a DVD player and dvds, board games, card games and not to mention a complementary WiFi connection for leisure use. We recently updated (Dec 25) our WiFi to wired fibre which makes it extra quick and more reliable. The kitchen has all the usual amenities, finished off with high end fixtures and fittings such as a granite work surface, Hotpoint built in coffee machine (decaff, and regular ground coffee included), Smeg appliances and bar preparation area. We provide an initial, one off guest Breakfast Box (vegan option available) which should last you a good few days. For a list of its contents, see below under ‘other things to note’. In the bathroom there is a shower with a choice of rain fall head or regular shower head. Because we have taken the sustainability approach and taken all Gas out the property, the hot water for the shower is not endless and does need time to reheat after a 15mins shower :- which to be fair, is usually more than enough for most people, so the water may run tepid for a while after that until it has a chance to reheat itself. So if you are in the habit of extra extra extra long showers, this may not work for you. We also have a local Scottish brand of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and general toiletries such as toothpaste, face wash, hairspray, vegan shampoo, nail polish remover, ect… There is also a small utility/office area which is packed with children’s games, including Glasgow monopoly, puzzles, glasgow books, fiction books and children’s books to keep everybody happy. We also have lots of random essentials, such as a umbrellas, picnic blanket, toothpaste, tote bags, and a waterproof phone bag…. Just in case! The stunning space is quiet, calming and ideal both in terms of location and amenities. Guest access Guests will have full use of the space. Other things to note Parking Parking is available directly outside the flat on a first come basis. At certain times of the day, you have to pay (8am- 6pm) and it’s operational Monday to Saturday. As we are residents we can supply cheaper parking vouchers which are £3 each and 1 voucher lasts for 6 hours and are available to use all over the west end. There is a non paying, street parking area available every day of the week about 100 metres away from the flat front door and about a 2min walk if you don’t want to pay. To park directly outside the flat building, the charges apply Monday - Saturday from 8am - 6pm and it costs £1.20 for 15 mins if you use the on street meters, which is cash only. Out with these times, it is free. Parking is also free all day Sunday. The best way to pay is through the Ringo app for a short time, but they do add on a fee to the initial cost. If you wish to park for longer, I can supply the above mentioned parking vouchers. They are £3 for a 6 hour period of time (which is the cost price for home owners in the area) so works out at a maximum of £6 to park all day. The 6 hour time periods are 8am-2pm or 12pm- 6pm. There are no charges after 6pm or on a Sunday. Gym and Pool The Gym group has a location about a 5mins walk away, that is open 24 hours and just off Byers Road. They offer a day pass and a week pass Again about a 5 min walk from the Flat and just across the road from the Gym Group location, just off Byers road, is the Western Baths. This has been a private members club since 1876, and they offer weekly membership for you to use their brand new gym and spin studio with a variety of classes. They also boast the largest private indoor pool in the country, with a trapeze and travelling rings over the pool. It also has a sauna and Turkish bath suite and a licensed restaurant in the basement. Transport The Underground (Hillhead station) is about a 5-10 minute walk away from the flat and it runs every 6 minutes. It takes about 8 minutes to get into the city centre, (which is either Buchanan St or St Enoch station) It closes at 11pm weekdays and 6pm on a Sunday. There is also a public bike hire station near Byres road which is a great way to explore the city, helped along by the many recently installed cycle lanes that are now in operation with many more to follow. There is also a frequent bus service which runs late into the night with a stop just outside the flat. It takes a little longer to get into the city centre, about 20-25 mins, but does get you a free sightseeing tour! Loch Lomand is about 40 min drive, but you can also catch a bus or a train to Balloch which is the small quaint town at the bottom end of Loch Lomand. Glasgow airport is a 25 min taxi journey. There is also a 24hour direct bus service to Glasgow airport that leaves from Buchanan St bus station in the city centre, running every 3 mins at peak times. . The journey takes about 15 mins, from the city centre to the airport and a 25 minute journey, coming from the airport to the city centre. Savings are available for using the free First Bus app and booking in advance. Buchanan St bus station and Buchanan St underground station are about 10 mins walking distance apart. Extras We will also provide free initial breakfast box that includes, milk, apple juice, selection of cereals, cheese, bagels, croissants, cereal bars, jam and some fruit which should last a few days. Vegan and dairy free options are of course available for all the items in the breakfast basket, just let me know your preference. Parties Strictly no parties. If you wish to have a party, please book a serviced apartment in the city centre, there are plenty available. This is a 170 year old well looked after historic and quiet building, and we would like to remain that way for next 170 years and beyond. Registration Details GL00428F
