Description

Laundry Cottage is a wonderful large cottage, in the heart of Snowdonia. Enjoy river views from every window, 300 feet of outside space next to the river, direct river access, gas BBQ, 3 lounges, 2 kitchens, 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. It's near beautiful woodland walks, castles, world famous bike tracks, zip wires, the 'Bounce Below' trampolining adventure, steam trains, award winning ice-cream and fabulous beaches. It's close to a main road for easy access all year. The space Laundry Cottage is a wonderful old cottage, which sleeps 12 , plus a double sofa bed. It's a huge, long cottage with plenty of room to spread out to different spaces, ideal for family groups of different ages, or groups of walkers. We have superfast fibre broadband and we welcome anyone who needs to work from home. Between November and the end of February we can offer discounts if you would like to come and work away for a week - just bring your laptop! With 3 comfortable lounges with cozy woodburing stoves, outdoor areas with seating to enjoy the views of the river and oak tree filled valley, a gas BBQ, small but pretty garden and a long lawned area with a swing seat there is plenty of space for family, friends or just to sit and relax by the river. This is a fantastic area to come and explore, and there is plenty to do to keep everyone busy for at least a month! It's in the heart of Snowdonia, near a huge variety of beautiful woodland walks (including the lakes and woods Llyn Mair), several very large castles (Harlech, Criccieth, Conwy), world famous bike tracks (Antur Stiniog, Coed Y Brenin), zip wires, (Zip World) the 'Bounce Below' trampolining adventure in the caves, steam trains (from Porthmadog) , award-winning handmade ice-cream (Harlech and Cariad Gelato, Porthmadog) , fabulous beaches (Black Rock Sands, Harlech) the Osprey watching centre, beautiful gardens and of course, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa, in Welsh) There is plenty of fun to be had for all ages, whatever the weather. The Oakley Arms and the Grapes pubs are a couple of minutes away by car, and serve pub lunches and evening meals. The carvery on a Sunday at The Grapes is wonderful, but you need to book well in advance, as most of the locals seem to go there! Slightly further afield, the beautiful village of Betws y Coed is well worth a visit, with good pub food available at The Stables. We have our own jetty off the lawn, and you can launch your own kayaks, canoes or SUPs, but please tell us, so we can give you the necessary safety information to help you have fun, as the river is tidal, and changes direction twice a day with the tides. During July and August we can also arrange for you to hire canoes or kayaks with enough notice and can have them brought to the house for independent or guided trips. Tim from Snowdonia Outdoors also offers bushcraft courses. Take care when near the water, and always supervise children if they are near water. We provide: Bedding and all bed linen Towels and tea towels Starter pack of tea/coffee/sugar/salt/pepper/oil/toilet roll/hand soap/kitchen roll/washing up liquid/washing powder/dishwasher tabs etc A kitchen well-stocked with equipment Toiletries welcome pack Hairdryers Books, board games, TV, DVD's. Superfast fibre optic broadband in all rooms Please be aware that, like many old and historical houses in Wales, we are a bit closer to the main road than we would like, and are next to it. Whilst this gives excellent road links, and you can get everywhere quickly, please make sure all your group are aware this is not a house in the middle of nowhere. You can hear the road in the car park area, and on the far lawn. We have just had triple glazing fitted throughout the house, so inside the house is quiet. There are simple bike racks outside, and a hose to wash off muddy bikes. There is a drive way for 4 cars, perhaps 5 if you squeeze in carefully. We have 2 downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, that are more accessible, with fewer steps (approx 3 -5 steps) . We DO NOT have an electric car charge point, but there are EV charge points at the Tescos at Porthmadog, about 20 minutes away. The balcony floor has been damaged in a storm and we are awaiting panning permission to repair it, so the balcony is closed, but this is only a very small part of the outside space. There is a flower garden, a large patio area with seating for 16, a gravel seating area and a large lawn which guests can use outside, including the jetty and several sets of steps going down to boat-height in the water. We now have a Roku TV streaming service here, you'll find the remote in the snug. Please set your checkout date in guest mode when you first use it, thanks! Guest access You can let yourself in with a key out of a lock box, so can arrive when it suits you, AFTER 4:00pm. Sadly we cannot offer earlier check in due to the huge size of the cottage and how long it takes to get the cottage ready. You will have the whole house for your group to use, and 300 feet of sunny garden area overlooking the river and lawn next to the river. Other things to note All guests are expected to tidy up, wash up and put washing up away, and leave the house clean and tidy at departure, as is normal. Anyone bringing a dog MUST ensure they pick up after their dog as it happens and check the outside area carefully before departure. Do not allow dogs onto any furniture or beds. Do not flush anything other than human waste and toilet paper down the toilet into the septic tank. Do not flush any wipes of any kind. Please bring your slippers and take shoes off in the house No bleach can be used it the house of any kind, as this would breach our environmental permit.
