Puffin Cottage is a cosy former fisherman's cottage full of original features and character, with open fire, original wood panel walls and ceiling beams. The cottage it is nestled rests at the foot of grass-covered cliffs with the sea just yards away in the village of Pennan, made famous by the film Local Hero. A great location for seeing the northern lights (photo courtesy of SunshineNShadows). 2024 has been the best year for this Licence no AS00603F The space The cottage is bursting with character, and is particularly homely with numerous paintings, historical artifacts, overflowing book shelves and various games and DVDs The accommodation comprises an open plan living, dining and kitchen area with open fire on the ground floor. The kitchen is small but functional with everything you should need (no dishwasher) For the fire we have left fuel to get you started. If needed additional Logs and coal are available to buy at the property or from local petrol stations in Fraserburgh, Banff or Macduff. Electric heaters are provided for instant heat. There is a shower room and toilet on the ground floor. Upstairs, the main double bedroom has an electric stove, wood panel walls and TV, and is made complete with a chandelier! There is also a single bedroom. There are further stairs up to a loft space, however we currently use this space for storage. There is wifi and the TV has netflix. In the shed outside there is a washing machine and tumble dryer, there is also a second outside toilet. There is a table and chairs outside in the alley and a further table and chairs on the sea front in the summer (although we store this in the winter to stop it getting washed away!) There is plenty parking on the street Guest access All areas apart from loft space Other things to note Please be advised that Pennan does not have reception and therefore mobile phones do not work once in the village (maybe not a bad thing!). There is unlimited wireless internet at the property which can be used for all communication purposes as well as the landline in case of emergencies. There is of course also the famous red telephone box. In the winter months Pennan may become inaccessible due to snow and bad weather conditions. We advise you to check the weather forecast before making your journey. Any last minute cancellations due to weather conditions will be fully refunded. There is an electric car charging point at the harbour. In the summer months the Pennan Inn serves evening meals (weds -sun). Booking is required and the food is great. The coastal cuppie is open for coffee/ delicious cake etc at the harbour depending on the weather.
