Rental unit in Bagno A Ripoli
Description
Magical, sun-filled open space: 900 years of history. High ceilings, picture-perfect views over sunrise and sunset, wood-burning stove, TV screen, central heat. Convenient location, gardens, Florence in sight, peace & quiet 900 year old tower-villa on Chianti hills overlooking Florence. IDEAL SPACE FOR DIGITAL NOMADS: peaceful, walking distance from shops. Public transportation to Florence. Shaded breezy garden with BBQ for summer days; sunny garden, cosy ceramic stove. The space This unique apartment is a "medieval penthouse" on top of a historical villa on the hills south east of Florence, Tuscany. There are about 55 stairs to get to the apartment, but that is what makes it so cosy and panoramic! A single 70sq mt space with high-ceiling, divided into two by an arch, with closable barn door: on one side a super-equipped kitchen and dining area. Above it, a loft with single bed and additional single floor mattress. On the other side, a lounge sofa right in front of the Swedish stove, facing the window with view of the church bell-tower, makes for our very favorite nap location! In the niche that was once the fireplace, we have created a cozy reading nook with a bonus: raise your eyes and look at the sky! In this area a queen size bed, surrounded by books. There is a TV screen you can connect to your Netflix or Prime accounts (and who knows what else you can do! We are just tech impaired..) 3 steps up from the kitchen, a full bathroom with bathtub/shower. THIS SPACE IS PRIVATE, for exclusive use of OUR GUESTS. However, we occasionally use for our family guests, so you may find traces of a lived-in home, all neatly stored away or available for you to use. A total of 4 can comfortably sleep here + a child on a floor mattress. Ideal for respectful guests who don't mind stairs. PS: Please note that this apartment is like a very spacious loft: no actual rooms, just a barn door to divide the place into two areas. So cosiness is abundant, privacy is limited. A BIT OF HISTORY: The tower portion dates back to 1146. The rest of the building was added on in the 1400s , 1600s and 1800s. Many lives were saved during WWII by my grandfather who risked his own, by offering hiding and shelter to total strangers in this villa. We want to continue this tradition by welcoming people from all over the world. Our children are the 6th generation in this home! Every piece of furniture has its own story: the old rifle cabinet, the dining table made out of a church door from Positano, the 150-year old wrought iron princess bed, the Swedish ceramic stove, the old carpenter's bench now a bar counter, and art all around. PLEASE REMEMBER TO READ THE HOUSE RULES THOROUGHLY BEFORE BOOKING. We really care about them being respected. Thanks! Guest access Wifi, shaded garden, sunny garden, BBQ, cable TV , music, books. A 1899 Steinway piano in the common room, available for our guests to practice. You can join in for our pasta making class followed by a meal with unlimited wine! 50€ off standard price. If you wish to precede the class with a wine tour to a nearby historical winery, add 50€ pp. Other things to note BEFORE YOU BOOK THIS PLACE, PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING: - SPACE vs. PRIVACY: this apartment is spacious and airy, but has no proper bedrooms, only lofts and niches: cosiness is abundant, privacy is limited .. - STAIRS: There are 45 STEPS to your entrance. Please take care. - THINGS TO DO: There is bus service that runs throughout the day from 6 am to 8 pm approximately, but only few rides on Sundays and holidays. The bus is plenty if you plan to stay home and relax, take hikes or day trips to Florence. However, if you plan to explore the area or stay out to dinner. then a car is highly recommended. - The building is owned by 4 different owners (me being one of them). Each owns 2 separate apartments, all occupied by permanent residents. Ours are the only ones available on Airbnb: PENTHOUSE and TOWER, and they can be rented separately OR together. - CHECK-IN: We live in the building and are happy to help whenever we can! However there are no doorbells in the villa, so it is important that you follow check-in instructions and contact us if you need any help. - GUEST PARKING: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU LEAVE CLEAR PASSAGE FOR OTHER CARS - GARDEN: our century-old garden/playground is NOT TESTED WITH PUBLIC SAFETY STANDARDS. PLEASE TAKE MAXIMUM CARE WHEN USING THE SWING, ROPES ETC. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR USE OF THEM. - UTILITIES: are NOT fully included in the nightly price. We want you to be comfortable in our home, so we have A/C and central heat. However, use can vary largely, based on season, weather, personal preference. We include a basic daily charge of 10/day€; and ask that guests pay for any excess of it. Charging based on usage allows us to keep the nightly cost as low as possible, and lets our guests be in control of how much they consume. The meters are at your disposal to check count at arrival and departure, and to monitor your usage. You will be charged via Airbnb Resolution Center, after check out. - Let us know if you have any question! Registration Details IT048001C2RD84RXDR
