Nearby, visit Paxton House with its extensive woodland grounds and adventure playground; walk around Berwick’s ancient walls; take in the epic sea views from the cliffs of St Abb’s Head National Nature Reserve, build sand castles or go surfing off Coldingham Sands. Not to be missed is Holy Island, 18 miles, accessed by a tidal causeway, while further down the coast there are castles galore, including Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Alnwick. Visit the Farne Islands by boat from Seahouses to see puffins and seals. The cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle are just an hour away by train. Fishing is also available nearby. Beach 7¾ miles.
