Apartment on the Corso, historic center of Chioggia
80m2 apartment on the third floor overlooking the historic center and partially on the Vena canal, 150 meters from the boats to / from Venice, with air conditioning. Consisting of a double bedroom, a single bedroom, a living room with a convertible sofa, a brand new kitchen, a bathroom, and with a terrace from which you can also see the lagoon and the port. The terrace has tables, chairs and umbrella to enjoy breakfasts, aperitifs, dinners, or even just sunbathing in complete relaxation. The space The apartment is on the third floor of one of the tallest buildings in the historic center. The terrace, located on the fifth floor, is equipped with umbrella, table, chairs and sun loungers. The terrace faces the square, and from here you can see the whole historic center, the lagoon, and the port. Being among the highest ones in the city, the terrace is a perfect place to have breakfast, aperitif or dinner in a private way while at the same time being in the heart of the square. Important: to get to the apartment you'll need to climb three floors of stairs. To get to the terrace, which is not directly connected to the apartment, you need to climb two more (in fact it is on the fifth floor). The apartment consists of a double bedroom, a single bedroom, a living room with a sofa bed and a sofa-sofa, an entrance with hallway, a kitchen, and two complete restrooms. The apartment has air conditioning, and we do not apply any additional charges for final cleaning. If you arrive before check-in time or if you need, after checking out you may leave your luggage in the luggage room. Guest access *** Neighborhood *** Chioggia's city center is not a very typical Italian historical center square. The best description is a miniature version of Venice: it has some few canals (the most picturesque one being Canal Vena), and characteristically narrow streets (the calli). Chioggia has plenty of churches, and a few pieces of art from renown artists like Tintoretto. *** Parking *** It is possible to park in front of the apartment without having to pay anything between 20:00 and 10:00, while between 10:00 and 20:00 the car must be moved away (indeed, during the day the area becomes a temporary pedestrian zone). There is an IMPORTANT exception, however: Thursdays are market days and on Thursday morning the car MUST be moved away at 6.00am, not at 10:00 am. Otherwise, the police will teleport your car somewhere else, and complement the operation with a request for some little money (hundreds of Euro) that will help funding the municipality. A first opition is to search for one of the few free parking slots (24/7) at the end of Via Zarlino (and for "the end" I mean that end of this 'Zarlino road' that points towards our apartment) - if you web-search it, you will find that this road is approx. at a 7/8 minutes walk to the apartment. There you can leave your car as long as you want, very comfortable for example if the car is very old and you don't know how to scrap it. However during the day it may be difficult to find parking slots in this Via Zarlino, since everybody wants to park there. Thus it is probably safer to opt directly for another bunch of 24/7 free slots that are a little bit further (say 15 ~ 20 minutes on foot, 5 minutes biking) and that are placed where there is the train station (you may web-search it too). Being the train connections from/to Chioggia equivalent to those in Jan Mayen, nobody uses the train here. This means that you will always find parking there. If you eventually want some peace of mind and do a paid parking you may use the www dot parcheggiogiove dot it - a private parking structure a 10-minutes-walk / 4 minutes biking far away from the apartment. I also use it sometimes, it is quite cheap (0.50 Eur per hour on the top floor, and there are some discounts for longer stays; you also get an amazing view!). So my suggestion is: when you arrive for the check-in, come to the apartment through "fondamenta Lombarde" up to "Calle Biseghella", going then through Calle Biseghella up to the main square: in this way you will basically end up in front of the apartment. Then unload the luggage, take one foldable bike in the car, go back through the same route and park either in Via Zerlino, or at the train station, or at Parcheggio Giove, or wherever you prefer, and then bike back to the apartment with the foldable bike. Important note: if you are driving a van taller than 2 meters or weighting more than 3.5 tonnes then you should actually go through "Calle Larga Bersaglio", some few calles after Calle Biseghella, since in Calle Biseghella there are some heights and weight restrictions. Other things to note As "non-standard equipment" the apartment has: - a cot for a newborn; - table / chairs / deck chairs / sun bed / umbrella for the terrace. The costs of heating, cooling and the tourist tax are included (in fact from 01/01/2018 the Municipality of Chioggia applies a tourist tax of one euro per person per night, but we pay it directly). The beds are 200 cm long and 80 or 160 cm wide, depending on whether they are single or double. Registration number IT027008C2P87JLMKP
