Description

Set on the edge of the gentle Ochil Hills, Barley Mill is a secluded wildlife haven where you are likely to see roe deer, buzzards, red squirrels, woodpeckers and a wide variety of small birds. Whether you want to explore the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, see the fishing villages along the coast of the East Neuk of Fife, visit the buzzing capital city of Edinburgh or historic Stirling, from Barley Mill it’s an easy drive to them all The space The perfect location for a night stop on the way north if you are going to push into Scotland's more remote reaches, only 10 minutes from the M90 Close to the historic village of Falkland with its impressive palace Close to Loch Leven with boat trips to its famous island where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned Loch Leven: 10 mins Perth 15 mins Falkland: 20 mins Edinburgh: 45 mins St Andrews: 45 mins Pitlochry: 40 mins Edinburgh airport: 40 mins Accommodation notes Beyond the mill garden, the cosy cabin built of local larch and pine sits in its own secluded field looking down on the pond and the River Farg beyond Fully insulated, it has a comfortable king size bed Make your own tea and coffee facilities in the cabin Small fridge and electric heater Superb views out of all four sides of the surrounding countryside Decking balcony with table and chairs to take in the beautiful tranquil setting with only the sounds of birdsong Camp kitchen with electric light, two ring electric cooker, pots and utensils All crockery and cutlery provided Toilet and shower cabin in the trees ten steps from your cabin Travel cot available Sorry no pets - we keep free roaming chickens and the sheep in neighbouring fields are easily accessed Exact directions given on final payment of booking Eat out in Kinross, 10 mins away by car, or at the pub in Dunning over the hill, 20 mins drive Guest access Free parking on premises, 100 yards from the cabin. Welly boots/ sturdy shoes are advisable as it’s a grassy uphill walk from car to cabin . In snowy weather, and if snow is forecast, it is advisable to park in the village and walk here(10 minutes)as the steep track can become impossible to navigate! Cases on wheels are not the best here- it’s more of a rucksack situation! Other things to note This is essentially a space for 2 adults for several reasons; there’s a low level tea/coffee making area (inc kettle),accessible electric plugs and sockets, open steps leading down to field with a pond. These features can be seen on the photos. Registration Details PK11653F
