Description
Set on the stunning coastline of the Strathaird peninsula on the Isle of Skye and 4 miles from the idyllic fishing village of Elgol, Drinan Dun looks out over the sea towards Sleat, whilst the Cuillins rise dramatically behind. Ideally situated for those looking for a walking, cycling or sailing break, the house also offers a wonderful retreat to relax and recharge. The space The accommodation offers a very comfortable holiday home. The house is laid out on one level and comprises a sitting room, kitchen/dining room, four bedrooms, bathroom and shower room. The bright and spacious sitting room has a fantastic outlook over the sea to the Sleat peninsula - you may just want to sit and enjoy the view! There is a traditional woodburning stove for those colder days or cosy evenings inside and a wide selection of books for you to enjoy during your stay - perfect for cosying up by the fire with a dram in hand! There is also a TV/DVD player, with a selection of DVDs for you to watch (please leave for the next guests), a CD/radio and a selection of board games. The kitchen/dining room provides everything that you might need including electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Of the four bedrooms, there is one double room, two twin rooms and a further single room meaning that the house can easily accommodate seven people. The bathroom and shower room provide excellent showers, plenty of hot water and heated towel rails. Included in the rental is all bed linen, towels, electricity and fuel for the stove. Guest access A car is essential for staying at the house. The house itself is in a remote location, which offers the perfect escape. The village of Elgol is 4 miles away, where there is a local shop/cafe (see under Guidebook below for opening hours) and it is a 25 minute drive from Broadford. The house is accessed via a rural track, which is perfectly suitable for most cars, if driven carefully, but it is not recommended for cars with low suspension such as sports cars. There is an enclosed garden at the front of the house, with a bench to sit on and admire the views. The surrounding land which extends along the coast belongs to the house, and walks along the shore or on the track can be relaxing and rejuvenating. There is easy access to the shore below, where you may be lucky enough to spot an otter or two! For those interested in sailing, windsurfing or canoeing, there is a slip quite close to the house. This does not belong to the house but guests may be permitted to use it by prior arrangement. Please let us know if you'd like more information.
