Merok Mill House, Bangor County Down

Merok Mill House, newly renovated (2025) self-contained luxury accommodation, over 2 floors with king sized double in the master bedroom, with rolltop bath and a second kingsize / twin bedroom off entrance hall both with ensuite. Suitable for four (4) persons, we also have an additional unit sleeps two (2) if required (Merok Old Granary). Set in beautiful countryside, with Bangor & North Down, and Belfast all within easy driving. Dogs welcome. Recreation facilities include fitness suite. The space Merok Mill House is a stone building which is understood to be over 150 years old and which was used for milling barley and other grains until the 1980's. Evidence of this is the large mechanical wheels which adorn the back wall of the living space. The property has been completely renovated over the last 2 years and offers all modern convenience in an historical setting. The large living room area and kitchen/diner space is open plan. The master bedroom, with king size bed, is accessed via a small flight of stairs. A modern ensuite bathroom is extended with a rolltop bath in the master bedroom. A second bedroom which can be configured either as a King sized bed or twin has its own ensuite shower room and toilet. Outside is a courtyard with seating for eight (8). A gas BBQ is available during summer months. A separate laundry room is provided with facilities for washing, drying and ironing. A separate recreational room 'Barn 2 be Wild' is available which includes an American pool table, table tennis table, foosball table and a dart board for days when 'chilling' is in order. Barn 2 be wild also includes fitness equipment, a concept 2 rowing machine, threadmill and static bicycle. Please note. We accept no responsibility for guests using the recreational or fitness equipment. Guests use recreational and fitness equipment at their own risk. NB: Access to the living / dining room, and also the master bedroom are via stairs and so unfortunately would not be suitable for those with significant mobility issues or wheel chair users. Merok Old Granary, a self contained kingsized room with ensuite and kitchenette is also available. Also, we own 2 dogs and 2 cats. Whilst the dogs are very friendly, they do get quite excited on first meeting new friends. Merok Mill House is not suitable for anyone who does not like dogs. Our property has 9 acres of fields which are generally occupied by horses from the equestrian centre. Walks down Kerrs Road are only occasionally interrupted by the passing of a car or tractor. Fields on Kerrs Road have herds of dairy cows and sheep. A delightful hour can be spent walking to the lower end of the road and back. Lovely relaxing exercise in both the morning or the evening. The Gransha Equestrian Centre is on our doorstep and lessons, horse riding experiences can be arranged. Check out granshaequestrian. Guest access The property is located on Kerrs Road, and is accessed via a driveway shared with The Gransha Equestrian Centre. The property is self contained (keys are provided to you on arrival) so you can come and go as you please. Access to the living / dining room and master bedroom is via flights of stairs and so unfortunately wheelchair access cannot be facilitated at this time. Other things to note Birdsong is a constant around the property for all the daylight hours particularly in spring and summer. An occasional whinney from the horses in the equestrian centre next door can be enjoyed. The equestrian centre horses are usually out i in the fields surrounding the property and are a delight to behold. Dogs and cats resides here also. We can accommodate just about any animal, from an Aardvark to a Zebra in our barns and stables. Please contact us first so that we have no surprises. We are located in a beautiful rural setting. There is limited bus service to and from Belfast/Newtownards/Bangor from the main road which is approximately half a mile from the front door. The service is not very frequent but can be used if desired, but a car is generally essential. There are no shops/pubs or other recreational facilities within walking distance, unless you are a very keen walker and like taking your life in your hands as there are no sidepaths (sidewalks) until you get into one of the towns.
