A short walk from the golden sands of Porthtowan Blue Flag beach, coastal areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Special Scientific Interest (Godrevy Head to St Agnes), and the St Agnes Mining District World Heritage Site, Ocean Sunset is in the heart of 'Poldark country'. Our Cornish retreat is perfectly situated for walkers/explorers of all ages with activities galore in the area, all year round. Enjoy views from the garden across UNESCO World Heritage listed St Agnes Mining District as well as views from the garden and house of the Atlantic Ocean where the sun sets in the evening. With engine houses harking back to Cornwall’s mining history rising out of the landscape wherever you turn, and Rodda’s Clotted Cream Creamery just down the road, for us this is the true heart of Cornwall. Porthtowan is laid back and ‘petite’. Everything you need for an active and/or relaxing holiday full of treats is either right here on your doorstep, or a few very pleasant miles down the road. Ocean Sunset, our 'home away from home', is a newly reburbished three-bedroomed bungalow, immaculately presented throughout to sleep up to 6 (5 plus 1 guest bed) guests. With an easily accessible 'family-sized' shower and a very well equipped kitchen and separate dining room, Ocean Sunset is suitable for all ages. What sets Ocean Sunset apart is the very private and beautiful garden with views for miles across the Cornish countryside and the Atlantic, which can be enjoyed from the warmth of the dining room all year round. It is a peaceful retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. All bedrooms are furnished with drawers and hangers. All mattresses are of high quality to ensure that all important good night's sleep. The master bedroom boasts a kingsize bed with distant sea views. The second bedroom can be set up as twin singles or linked as a superking double, this also has distant sea views from the window. The third bedroom has a 'Guest bed', which can be set up as a 3ft x 6ft 3in standard single or with the guest bed pulled out to make two singles. The guest bed can be set up as a trundle for younger children (low level on wheels) or pulled up to normal bed height for older children or adults (please note that the guest bed is only 2ft 6in x 5ft 9in, so these beds cannot be used as a double). There is a shower room with large walk-in shower, low level WC, wash basin and all year-round heated towel rail. There is also a separate cloakroom with low level WC and wash basin. Guests are asked to use their own beach (and dog) towels. There is driveway parking for two cars. For weekly stays in peak weeks, Friday is our changeover day (check out by 10am and arrival any time after 4pm). Please note that we are not able to accommodate pets during the peak summer months. Guest access The bungalow and gardens are all yours for the duration of your stay. We keep the garage for our own storage purposes, but only access it when we do not have guests. Other things to note The driveway is quite narrow and has a rising wall to one side, so care is needed when getting in/out of your vehicle. You will find dog-friendly pubs in Porthtowan and St Agnes. Trevaunance Cove is dog-friendly all year round, but there are restrictions on Porthtowan beach from May to October.
