The Crazy Cabin in Achnacarry is the perfect place to stop if you're walking the Great Glen Way, canoeing the Caledonian Canal, or just exploring this beautiful part of Scotland by car. Small, cosy and comfortable for two with twin beds, seating and microwave cooking facilities inside the Cabin; and a toilet/shower space for your exclusive use outside just round the back. And a covered decking area to enjoy the amazing views. Osprey, red deer, red squirrels and pine martin are regular visitors. The space The beds are 75cm wide but very comfortable and all linen, duvets and towels are provided. There is an electric heater to keep the cabin cosy and electricity is included in the rental. Two comfortable chairs inside, and two chairs outside on the decking give you a choice of seating. There is a microwave, kettle and sink with crockery and cutlery but please note that there is no cooker. Guests should bring all their own food but we can buy in groceries and refreshments for you if given sufficient notice. Note that there is no shop, restaurant or any food source nearer than Spean Bridge (7km). Fridge and freezer facilities for your use are available adjacent to the Cabin. The toilet and shower room is exclusive to the Cabin, has underfloor heating, and plenty hot water. Guest access The cabin is close by our house and is surrounded by open country. Loch Lochy is just 100m away and we are right on the Great Glen Walk Way. Ample parking beside the cabin. Loch Arkaig is a 15 minute walk away and there are waterfalls (including the famous Cia-Aig falls) nearby. St Ciaran's church is 300m up the track from the cabin. You can walk, cycle and kayak in many varied directions from the cabin, and many folk wild swim in Loch Lochy. Other things to note Ample car parking. Bike and canoe storage is no problem. Meals are not included but we can buy-in specific food for your arrival if given adequate notice and a detailed list of requirements. Access to the Cabin is via a couple of steps and the surrounding area is gravel tracks and rough grass so it is not suitable for folks with significant mobility issues. Bookings can be made instantly in July or August where availability exists. In May, June, September and October the Cabin might be available by request only.
