Dunans Cottage

Dunans Cottage is situated in the beautiful Knapdale Forest 1.9 miles from Cairnbaan within a National Scenic Area. The views are fantastic! The Cottage is off the beaten track but within a traditional farming hamlet with access via a forestry track ( see illustrated map ). Many outdoor and indoor activities are available within the area but the peace and quiet at Dunans are unique. The space The cottage is small and cosy (6m x 4m, not including porch and bathroom), open plan studio style with a log burning stove. We will provide a log basket of firewood, and more can be bought on request. There is also electric heating. A small separate bathroom contains W.C., wash basin and shower. The kitchen area is well equipped and fitted with cooker, sink, a small fridge with a freezer compartment, washing machine and micro wave. Guest access You can walk out the cottage door and have access to a number of forestry tracks either by foot or bicycle . One track heads south and gives great views over Loch Sween, Tayvallich and the Paps of Jura and in the other direction a 15 minute walk takes you to the triangulation point with a view north, to the Isle of Mull. Otherwise you could just sit in the cottage garden and enjoy the peace. Other things to note The cottage is one of three dwellings in a secluded situation and access is via a forest track. The Road is maintained by the forestry commission but does have the odd pothole (what road doesn't these days!) but taken with care it is not a problem. The cottage has no wifi or television but there is a radio, dvd and cd player.
