"Glamping" is a combination of camping and comforts. Located .7 mile to both Lake Bomoseen & Glen Lake. Swimming and Kayak rentals from Lake Bomoseen camp grounds. We provide plenty of clean drinkable water for cooking and showers. The cabin has an outdoor portable restroom that is serviced weekly, outdoor shower, cathedral ceilings, open floor plan, full kitchen, ceiling fans, carpeted sleeping loft with linens, Wifi . We are sorry we do not allow pets as stated in house rules. Enjoy an authentic rustic woodland camping experience with a few luxuries: comfy beds, ceiling fans, a kitchen in a spacious area. Although there is no indoor plumbing, plenty of water for showers, drinking, and cooking is provided in containers. The kitchen includes a full size refrigerator/freezer, a full size stove, a sink with a drain, as well as a Keurig coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. There is an outdoor portable toilet and an outdoor enclosed shower. Hot water heated on the stove can be added to cool buckets of water provided in the outside shower. A battery operated pump provides a nice 3 minute shower. If its chilly, a wood burning stove heats the cabin very well. There is a charcoal grill, charcoal, a portable fire bowl, and plenty of firewood provided. This cabin was built in 2008 as a hunting camp and has been well maintained and used minimally. There is a security system installed which is deactivated during the Airbnb rental season. The cathedral ceilings and pine interior create an impressive open space. Mounted deer heads add to the atmosphere. The entire building is being rented. It is private and located at the far end of our land. There are state park woodlands and hiking trails very close to the property. Our home is on the opposite end of the property, but not visible from the camp. We will be available to help you with advice for enjoying your visit, and to deliver more water when needed. Glen Lake is uniquely special in that it is pristine and natural, surrounded by Bomoseen State Park lands rather than private homes. Hiking trails are close by taking you along the lake and beyond. There is a Kayak boat launch 3/10 mile away on Moscow Rd with access to many private areas for bathing at this very clean lake. You may hear the sounds of loons or owls, Eagles are occasionally sighted. We will provide you with a list of local restaurants, shopping, recreation and places that we recommend. A stained glass studio is located in our home. There is parking on the property. Amtrak in Castleton connects to New York City. A car is necessary to enjoy the surrounding area. Although this is a privately situated place, it is not far from civilization. It is on an unpaved road, and in an area used for recreation, so it is not isolated. Bomoseen State Park camp area is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. It is 1/2 mile away with a beach, paddle boat and Kayak rentals, snacks and hot showers. There is a day use fee and showers are coin operated. Four quarters will buy a decent shower. The showers are located separate from the beach. For families with young children we can set up a hinged baby gate at the top of the stairs, panels with a gate at the bottom of the stairs, and panels with a gate around the wood burning stove. Cell service is limited and works best with Verizon. It should allow for texting. Wifi calling may be possible. Throughout the summer there are free weekly outdoor concerts in several local towns. There are farmers markets where you can purchase healthy local food, produce, and crafts. A major grocery store is only 10 minutes away. In addition, there are many fine restaurants, boutiques, shops, galleries and museums within 30 minutes driving time. There are Kayak and motor boat rentals at Woodard Marine on Lake Bomoseen, hiking trails, fishing, birding, and more. Killington and Okemo mountains each 1 hour distance; have summer activities for the whole family.
