Description

Self-contained flat. No Smoking. Private entrance. Great location - Close to the city centre (<10 minutes walk) Local amenities - shops, cafes, independent bars and restaurants. Main Bedroom - King size bed, ensuite shower room. Kitchen/Diner - Well equipped , range cooker, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine. Garden/Deck - Access to deck & garden. Small bedroom/Work area - Mezzanine bed/bed in a bag. One adult or two children at a push for short stay (only one loo in main bedroom ensuite). The space Hello The flat is the ground floor of my family house. The entrance is down a short flight of (quite steep) steps to the basement entrance into the main bedroom. Through the bedroom is the kitchen/diner which opens onto the pation and garden at the rear (it's on a slope). This makes for a light and airy bedroom and kitchen diner. At the rear there is also a small room which can act as a work space or be used as a spare bedroom. It has a single mezzanine bed. This room can easily fit one adult but there is also a bed in a bag so you could squeeze two children in to this space but this would be a bit tight for any length of time. Also the bed is quite high up which maybe a consideration with very young children. Also the only loo is the ensuite in the main bedroom. So if you are sharing the space with someone, you want to know them very well. I have a background in renewable energy so have tried to apply principles of energy efficiency to this old terrace house. The house has extensive insulation on the interior walls and between floors. The hot water is supplied by a heat exchange on the the back wall and electrical power is augmented with the solar panels on the roof. The flat is fitted with underfloor heating. Upper floors are mainly serviced by the wood burner with gas to back up when it is really ...brrrr. The flat is in the basement of my family home so despite large amounts of acoustic insulation, it's still the basement of my family home so you may sometimes be aware of people and children upstairs. We are not a particularly noisy lot but kids have to go to school etc. If you feel this is the place for your stay in Norwich, then I will do my very best to make your stay special. I have tried to price as keenly as I can. Sometimes guests will want to make a longer booking and need a cheaper price. Unfortunatley I can't accomodate discounts plus there really isn't the storage etc. that you would need for a longer stay. Sorry. NB. Smokers have become a problem for me recently. There are no facilities for smokers so plant pots, pavement, food pots and my roof (rubber) have become ash trays. Smoke wafts in to the house and next door from the outside. Smoking and vaping inside the flat. So if you are a smoker you have to talk to me at the very least. Best Regards Chris -------------------------- Parking There is limited on-street parking as residential area, but several bays with two hours in the day and after 6.30 is free. Limited supply of parking permits so check availability. Bedroom The good size double bedroom has a king-size bed ample hanging space and two bedside drawers and a chest of drawers for storage. This room has an en-suite toilet/shower room which has a heated towel rail. Towels and toiletries are provided. There is unlimited broadband and Wi-Fi, a smart TV with loads of free to view channels, Netflix is set up but if you wanto rent movies etc, then you prbably want to use your own account. Kitchen/Diner The kitchen is a generous space and fully- equipped with all you need to make your stay as relaxing as it can be. You'll have use of washing machine and dishwasher. Basic breakfast of cereal milk, tea coffee etc. is provided (let us know in advance if you need anything particular). The dining space has seating for four and a large TV. Bedroom/work space This room is quite small but compact. Suit one adult, maybe two kids at a push but not for too long. The bed is high but there is a bed in a bag as well that can be made up. Remember, only one loo and that is the ensuite in the main bedroom. Garden and Deck Visitors are welcome to use the garden and relax and dine on the deck. The space is not used by the family when guests are present but we do need access to bicycles, the workshop and need to maintain the space from time to time. Location This smart pied a terre is situated on one of the best roads in the heart of the most popular area of Norwich's buzzing cosmopolitan 'Golden Triangle'. Close to cafe's, shops and pubs/bars nearby on the popular Unthank Road and located a short walk from the city centre. The flat is the perfect base for exploring all that Norwich has to offer, including two shopping malls, and a superb selection of independently trading shops, a host of great pubs, restaurants, theatres and live music. Recommended pubs nearby include: The Fat Cat (best beer pub in the city), The Alexandra Tavern (local with cheap food), Unthank Arms (decent eatery), Black Horse (well run good menu) The Pear Tree (very local, good people watching if its warm). There are a bunch of restaurants and takeaways nearby on Dereham and Unthank road including Chinese, Indians, Greek, Turkish Vietnamese. One of the best things about living in this part of town is that despite being so close to all the action, it is quiet and tranquil and you will wake up to the sound of bird song rather than the roar of traffic. Getting around. Walking into the city is by far the easiest way to get there but the No. 26 bus stops five minutes away on Earlham Road - you can catch it into the city and on to the railway station. In the other direction it will take you directly to the University of East Anglia and SportsPark, the UK's largest community based indoor sports facility, and on to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and University of East Anglia and the Research Park/John Innes Centre. A short walk in the other direction takes you to the Unthank Road where you can catch the 25 all the way to the Station/Waterfront. No need to get taxi's after a late night out, the city centre is about ten minutes away! For more information download VISIT NORWICH from the App Store! I am happy to advise or help with any aspect of your stay such as recommending places to eat or drink. Guest access There is a small outside patio area by the front door. Garden and Deck Visitors are welcome to use the garden and relax and dine on the deck. The space is not used by the family when guests are present but we do need access to bicycles, the workshop and need to maintain the space from time to time. Other things to note Under-2's are welcome but please bring own travel cot. Young Doberman lives upstairs.
