Description
Built in 1903 and renovated in 2008, our farmhouse has the coziness of an old country home and the vitality of a modern art gallery. A full cascade of windows show off beautiful Hominy Valley and is only 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. Enjoy 5 acres to play and roam. Relax on the front porch in the morning, cool off in the creek in the mid-day heat, enjoy sunset dinners on the back patio and head to the firepit in the evenings for s'mores. AirBnb policy forbids parties and large gatherings. The space Multiple indoor and outdoor sitting areas create opportunities for families to gather and have intimate conversations. The vast collection of modern art that inhabits the house is a wonderful contrast to the authentic bead board walls and ceilings of the original farmhouse. Hominy Creek runs through the property and can open a lifetime of memories splashing about or cozying up by the fire pit. The Blue Ridge Parkway, 7 miles up the road, has spectacular views and tons of hikes for every age. We love to cook and have appointed the modern kitchen with everything the avid cook might need. Our house ideal for families, reunions and friends gathering. House managed with caretakers on site. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house. Feel free to wander the entire property but please avoid entering any of the farm outbuilding and animal pens. Kids can get hurt in those kinds of places. Other things to note Heating and Cooling: The addition has solar heated radiant floors and domestic hot water. The original house has mini-splits so you can adjust each room individually, and the wood stove is a great cozy additional heating source. We have all the wood you need. Our house is intentionally simple. It's easy to find almost anything. except the kitchen trash basket. It does not have a handle and is on the right side of the island. The recycling bin is in the pantry. Cleaning supplies are under the sink. House cleaning supplies, if you need them, are in the utility room along with the washer and dryer. There is a whole house water filter, so water from tap is great for drinking, cooking, bathing. Bathroom supplies are under the sink in the master bathroom. Linens are in the closet at the top of the stairs, along with a laundry basket. We'd appreciate if you refrained from touching or moving any of the paintings, photographs, or quilts. Many of the artists are local and we would love to connect you with them if you find their work to your liking : ) Farm Life- you will be visiting the country and coming into contact with critters that make country living what it is. We do our best to limit ants, mice, flies, stink bugs and wasps, yet total eradication is impossible. Phones- If for some reason you need a landline the is a phone on the desk in the kitchen. Music— There is also Bluetooth connected speaker - FOSI. Fireplace—wood, kindling should be visible. If you need more it is on the front porch. Paper and matches are in the box on the floor below the TV.
