If you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse if not, you’ll almost certainly hear them during your stay. Ardderfin offers so much, you may never want to leave … Set amongst green fields and hills above the River Tywi, 10/15 minutes drive from the beautiful beaches in Llanstephan and Laugharne (once home to Dylan Thomas) Ardderfin is truly the perfect location to explore Wales, nestled between Laugharne and Carmarthen, it is also only 35/40 mins from the PEMBROKESHIRE COAST and 50/60 mins from THE GOWER PENINSULA , where one of the BEST BEACHES in the WORLD is located! More on that later … Enhance your stay with a private chef for special occasions. Many have said it is the best starlight they have seen! There is a woodland directly opposite the farmhouse and if you shout from the front of the house , the sounds will echo back at you. We highly recommend you take a stroll through the fields to the rear of the farmhouse as this is where you will witness amazing views and a breathtaking sunsets. We have put a Bench in the field for you truly to enjoy the views and tranquility. You just need to walk through x2 fields to rear of the house and you will get here. With a dining table to fit you all year round and all the kitchen essentials you need you can rustle up a feast, or depending on the weather there's plenty of space outside for a bbq. This farmhouse has been stylishly converted into a 5 Bedroom home with exposed stone, slate floors, original A Frames and a cosy fireplace. There is no need to fight over the best room, as each of the bedrooms are as lush as the other, with views out onto the rolling green hills and fields. Rambling rooms have a lovely, easygoing chic yet they retain the rustic character, raw stone walls throughout and slate floors in the kitchen, the farmhouse also features x2 bathrooms, one of which has a deep roll-top tub with views out to the hills, a real slice of heaven. Not only is the property in striking distance of stunning beaches and delightful villages, approximately 2 miles away there is a friendly well-stocked village shop and post office, open every morning to pick up fresh groceries and newspapers. To taste the best fruit and veg head straight to Carmarthen where you will find “Chris Fruit and Veg “ it is a very small family run fruit and veg market . Although Ardderfin is a homely escape that you won’t want to leave it offers a variety of attractions and things to do it is also popular with ramblers and cyclists and the “Carten100” cycling event passes the farmhouse annually. We ll start with RHOSSI BEACH, voted one of the TOP TEN BEST BEACHES in the WORLD by Lonely Planet 2023! 3 miles of gorgeous sand and coastline. Not only is it one of the best beaches on the GOWER PENINSULA or indeed Wales, It has repeatedly been voted one of the best in the UK, Europe and indeed the world. It has also been voted one of the top ten sunset spots on the planet for good measure. This gorgeous three-mile (5 km) sweep of golden sand sits at the western end of Gower, the peninsula to the west of the city of Swansea. If you visit Rhosilli Beach you must go to the “WORMS HEAD” pub/restaurant/cafe which is dog friendly , for the breathtaking views with any drink of your choice, you will not be disappointed! Take a look at the photos to catch a glimpse of the view from here. Two other MUST SEES in the Gower are THREE CLIFFS BAY and OXWICH BAY, do this coastal walk and your breath will be taken away. Not forgetting that not far from the Gower, you have Mumbles (home to Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas) Llangennith, Hill End. The list is endless! Moving onto PEMBROKESHIRE there are far too many beauty spots to mention but here are some of my favourites.Must-see beaches are Barafundle Bay, Skrinkle Bay and Church Door Cove and then perched within Pembrokeshire National Park itself, Broadhaven Beach is one of the best places in Pembrokeshire to visit for a proper beach day. Not too far from the city of St. David’s, it’s really easy to pair up a visit to Whitesands Bay whilst exploring this area of Pembrokeshire. Now, this is a totally stunning beach to visit , with its white sands and lovely waters, it’s a great place to spend a hot sunny day. Better still, Whitesands Bay has won lots of awards for its epic beach and is a “Blue Flag Beach”, too. To add on to the list is “TRESAITH” beach, it is around 5-miles north of Pembrokshire, Tresaith Beach is a must-visit spot (even if it’s technically not in Pembrokshire itself). The beach is totally sandy and even has an incredible waterfall that jets out into the sea itself. It’s such a beautiful and quaint spot. Plus, you can stop by the Ship Inn for a pint afterward. If you don’t go and visit “The Shed” in PORTHGAIN (1 hour away) for some takeaway Monkfish and Chips you will be most certainly missing out! Please visit here and take the short coastline walk opposite “The Shed” and you will stumble across the most beautiful , untouched parts of coastline paradise. BOSHERTON LILY PONDS , NEW GALE and FRESHWATER WEST are also all MUST SEE destinations on the Pembrokeshire Coast. TENBY AND SAUNDERSFOOT are both approx 35/40 mins from the Farmhouse. They both offer great beaches, spas, entertainment and are beautiful places to visit. Tenby is a totally quaint and historic fishing village that’s too beautiful to miss. In fact, I’d go as far as saying it’s one of my favourite seaside towns and certainly worth a visit if you want to experience a charming little piece of the country. Once you’re in Tenby, take in the colourful houses and picturesque charm of the town and wander the little streets around the beaches. Oh, and keep an eye out for the colourful little cottages, too, you can also pop over to Caldey island while you are there! St Brides Spa and Restauraunt in Saundersfoot is also a MUST visit wether it’s for a special occasion, for the perfect Sunday Roast or if you just fancy afternoon tea (which I love) a beer or cocktail ,with views of Saundersfoot beach, this is the place for you. It also offers an infinity pool with the same lovely views. BLUESTONE also the same distance is beautiful for wine tasting and if you wanted to enjoy and relax and have a spa day -Bluestone and ST BRIDES are the places for you. If you travel to Tenby /Saundersfoot on a Sunday en route you can visit the famous car boot sale at Carew Market, so much fun and great bargains to be had! Amroth, Penally, and Manorbier are the surging beaches to Tenby and Saundersfoot. CARDIGAN is another of your MUST sees during your visit … you will fall in love with MWNT where you will most definitely spot some dolphins , you can park your car and take a stroll down onto the beach , located not far from Mwnt is THE CLIFF and Poppit Sands, if you take a walk towards the beach at the Cliff you will stumble across beautiful peaceful , untouched small beaches , often with no one else around. Take a look at the photos to see MWNT and THE CLIFF. To finish the perfect day after dolphin watching , enjoy a cocktail and again breathtaking seaviews from “ The Cliff”. Not far from here you can travel to New Quay, Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, all faboulous! Cei Newydd (New Quay) sits between Aberaeron and Aberystwyth on the Ceredigion coast. It’s a lovely sea-salty village with a postcard-perfect harbour. It also has plenty of pubs and cafes to while away the summer days, not to mention more great coastal walking. Its two beaches are great, and the harbour is the departure point for dolphin-watching boat trips along the coast. New Quay isn’t to be confused with Newquay on the north Cornwall coast. The similar name and seaside location apart, it’s very different from its Cornish counterpart. Now onto closer locations to the Farmhouse. LLANSTEPHAN Village - a 10-minute drive away offers lovely pubs and delicious food and also has a gorgeous dog friendly peaceful beach. Llanstephan is a true hidden Gem! With cute tea shops , pizza parlour and pubs, including "The Sticks Inn" which is dog friendly and has an open fireplace and lovely food. Llansteffan has a gorgeous beach and a new park for children. It also has a beautiful castle! Llanybri another small village located x10 mins away also has a great pub called “The Farmers Arms” which is under new management and serves great food and offers themed night takeaways. Pant yr Athro Mansion is another gorgeous venue that offers excellent Sunday lunches and evening meals - booking essential. LAUGHARNE 15 mins away - another lovely small village where you can visit the famous Dylan Thomas home/boathouse and writing shed, one of Wales top sightseeing spots. Laugharne has cute, pretty pubs, cafes, and restaurants some of which Neil Morrisey famously converted. You must visit Browns (dog friendly) and have a meal in Dexters you will not be disappointed! one of my all-time faves!. Laugharne Castle is also a must-see! it’s a totally stunning ruin to see whilst staying at the farmhouse. After exploring the village area, pop into the Owl & The Pussycat for a tasty bite to eat. They make the best homemade meals and a truly lovely family-run business. There is also “Dylan’s Coastal spa” where you can go for a swim or enjoy a coffee or cocktail with spectacular views. ST CLEARS also in the same direction (approx 15 mins drive) has a fresh bakery, a fabulous family run butchers, a Co-op and Spar (mini supermarkets), x2 hairdressers, x3 pubs, a Veterinary, everything you need, even a lovely quirky Charity Shop! Please book and have a meal at "DEXTERS" I would highly recommend going here, the food is delicious and the ambiance perfect! you will miss out if you don t take a visit here during your stay.! If it's a Sunday roast you are after you will not beat this place! The food is to die for! The slow-cooked 12 hour beef brisket has to be one of the best Sunday roasts I have tried! Dexters is definitely a can't miss spot to wine and dine. “The New Curiosity “ is another favourite. The restauraunt is a family run restaurant found in the Welsh historical market town of Carmarthen. They provide fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy with family, friends and work colleagues. Head chef and owner Daniel Williams will delight you with his dish combinations using the very best in Welsh produce. “Florentinos” and Italian Family run restaurant is another lovely gem where you can sit in or outside and they also do takeaways!!! I would definitely have a meal here during your stay. There is also a dog cafe in Carmarthen where you can treat the doggies and they can even have their afternoon tea there, check it out, it’s called “Baileys Coffee Bar”. LLANDEILO -a boutique town, only 14 miles away from Carmarthen and approx 30 min drive from the farmhouse is another must-visit location. Filled with boutique, quaint and unique shops. It has a real farming, local feel to it. NOW ... if you want to be impressed and eat homemade hearty meals in the most amazing restaurant/pub, and listed on the Michelin guide! ... Y POLYN is 100% a must for a meal during your stay! A lunch treat not too be missed, not only will you be supporting a local business but you will not beat this place for the most delicious, tasty, gorgeous, and amazing food! THE GUARDIAN gave "The Polyn" a glowing review in 2006 and since then it has been jam-packed! Go experience it for yourself! take a look at Trip Advisor to see what you think.! THE CAWDOR also located in Llandeilo is another fantastic recommendation. WRIGHTS FOOD EMPORIUM in Llanarthne (not far from Llandeilo) must be booked! It is another one of my favourite family-run homemade, healthy, tasty restaurants! This place has a real London City vibe to it. PEMBREY COUNTRY PARK and PEMBREY are both beautiful and fantastic dog friendly beaches both not too far away. NARBERTH a small town (also approx 40 mins drive away) to the west is a cornucopia of unusual antique shops and wonderful delicatessen delights. ULTRACOMIDIA is one of my favourites for a cup of tea or a glass of wine. THE GROVE in Narberth is a must-do for absolute luxury! Seeing is believing! It offers intimate and FINE DINING, relaxed dining, private dining, cocktail bar & lounge, and afternoon tea. It has been voted 5 Star and Sunday Times best in Wales 2020.
