Description
A lovely self-contained fully equipped one-bed chalet, set apart from the main family house. The Cowshed enjoys the benefits of a rural setting on a smallholding with stunning valley views, 5 minutes from the bustling cathedral town of Truro. Ideally situated for a Cornish stay, we are within easy driving distance of most of the major beaches and tourist attractions. Ideal for couples or families, we welcome you to our beautiful home! The space The Cowshed has been decorated and refurbished in 2023 after being fully renovated and refurbished (from a cowshed!) in 2015 to be a functional, bright and comfortable space. Set aside from the main house, this gorgeous, one-bedroom chalet has everything you will need for your stay; a fully equipped kitchen and a new bathroom with utility, leading into an open plan lounge and separate bedroom. Our sheets and towels are professionally laundered, giving you a touch of luxury for your stay! The bedroom has a king-size bed and an additional (small) single sofa bed. There is ample storage making it the perfect space for a short or longer break. Please let us know ahead of your stay if you require the single sofa bed and we will set it up for you. There is space to bring an additional cot or pop-up bed for toddlers; we do ask that you please provide the bedding for this should you need this and inform us of any additional guests. The lounge has a comfortable sofa to relax in and is open plan to the kitchen and dining room. Outside, there is a table and chairs for use in good weather for al fresco dining. We have a small kettle bbq you are welcome to use too. We invite you to share our garden with us and to explore the grounds at your leisure. The space is perfect for singles, couples or families, having the luxury of a separate living space and a private bathroom. The Cowshed offers guests privacy and comfort at our family home. Guest access Guests will have ample parking and shared access to the smallholding, including an apple orchard, chickens, sheep and 2 1/2 acres of land. The Cowshed is set in rural surroundings (not a house in sight), looking over a stunning valley, but benefits from being just 5 minutes from the city of Truro and 10 minutes from the beaches of Porthtowan, St Agnes and 20 minutes from Falmouth. Other key sights within an easy drive include St Ives, Trelissick Gardens, The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Other things to note EV owners; we try to keep our listing price low. We also understand that is essential to be able to charge your EV during a stay. However, the cost of electricity is extremely high and we estimate that the average charging cost is around £17 per day for a full charge. We wouldn’t cover someone’s petrol bill so we ask for an honesty system here to keep our overheads down; if you want to charge your car, please ask beforehand. We would then ask for an additional £15/night of use to help us to keep our booking cost down. We recently installed a pressurised air ventilation system; Cornwall struggles with wet and warm weather conditions. We have found that this PIV system helps keep our air fresh and clear by constantly circulating fresh air into the space. It is situated in the kitchen and does give off a low hum. Should you be sensitive to noises, we can arrange with prior notice to have the system shut off for the duration of your stay (short term lets only), but we would encourage guests to use this technology to keep the Cowshed fresh and airy! We have a two very friendly labradors, Poppy and her crazy younger brother Frank. We also have two nosey cats (both of whom are low allergen), and so there will be animals around in the garden area (some of whom may sneak into the Cowshed at times). If you are not an animal lover, then please let us know! We have Wiltshire Horn Sheep in our field, and you are welcome to go and visit them but ask that you respect their space. We would invite guests to get stuck in with the chickens and help themselves to apples when in season! We will supply professionally laundered sheets for the king-size bed and towels for the number of guests booked. If you need to borrow extra bedding for the sofa bed, please let me know ahead of time, and we can arrange for this to be set up for you. Please provide your own bedding for any additional cots or toddler beds you bring as required. We have recently updated the bathroom to include a utility containing a washer-dryer. We ask that guests observe the load limit for the machine at 6kg per wash and 5kg per tumble dry. We do not supply washing powder. We welcome you to use the outdoor space but do ask that you are respectful of noise after 10 pm as we have a young family. There is an outdoor seating area for use when the weather is good and we can provide a kettle bbq (you will need to supply the charcoal, please) for you to use.
