Description

Clarice Buckland Hut is a great place to relax and unwind after a day's walk on the Queen Charlotte Track. Alternatively, you can come straight to our jetty in Endeavour Inlet on a scheduled water taxi from Picton. While here, you'll be surrounded by native bush and bird song - including an impressive dawn chorus. The beach is a short walk away where you can enjoy clear water and views across the Inlet to bush-clad hills. The space The hut is private, nestled in native trees and located at the back of our property. It has the vibe of a private backcountry hut with a few creature comforts. Just one-room, it is solidly built from recycled materials and well insulated for those days/nights when it's cold. There's a comfy double bed made up with fresh linen and a table and chairs. Outside, there's a covered deck that gets great afternoon sun. Facilities include an electric kettle, crockery, utensils and everything you need to make a hot drink. You'll also find ingredients for a continental breakfast, including homemade muesli and yoghurt. Just like a backcountry hut, there is no kitchen. Your options are to bring a camping stove, or fresh food to store in the small ice box you'll find on the deck. If you fancy hot chips or a meal out, there is a cafe and restaurant at Furneaux Lodge, a leisurely 20 mins walk along the Queen Charlotte Track. We advise pre-booking a table if you plan to dine at the lodge. Guest access Guests have access to their own private outdoor shower (simple solar bag) and a separate composting toilet located just behind the hut. There's an outdoor sink next to the hut with drinkable cold water from a local spring. Other things to note There is no access to wifi in the hut. Furneaux Lodge has free wifi. If you are walking the Queen Charlotte Track, your pack can be sent ahead to our jetty by water taxi. We can pick it up and transfer to the deck of the hut. Bags that cannot easily be carried on our back or shoulder may be left at the jetty for you to pick up.
