We rented an old industrial loft and converted it DIY into a spacious 6-bedroom home, shared by friendly, artistic and open minded roommates. We are still constantly making new improvements and enhancements to the huge property. Our home is open to friends and guests from all over the world and is best suited to accommodate younger, free-spirited, socialite travelers who enjoy sharing experiences. You can expect to find between 8 and 14 people of a wide range of ages and backgrounds living here at any given night, along with occasional guests and and visiting friends, so it's a great place to mingle with both locals and tourists while still enjoying a homey atmosphere. Surprisingly you may sometimes also find yourself wondering where everyone has disappeared to... Artists, musicians, explorers, backpackers, environmentalists, permaculturists, animal and nature lovers, who are easy going and low maintenance, will most likely be a good fit here :) We are a bit like a big, and perhaps sometimes slightly chaotic, family and we all do our best to help keep the place up and running and nice and pleasant for everyone and work together on our communication and cooperation skills. That also includes accepting that sometimes it may be a bit less than perfect and that everyone is allowed to make mistakes and to slack off sometimes too!! Our home is big-hearted and flexible, a very diverse and dynamic place, where things are constantly moving and changing, as well as the people that live and visit us. Please forgive us if not everything is exactly as in the pictures on the listing, as it is complicated enough to try and capture the feel of our home in single frozen moments, without having to keep them constantly up to date as well :) We are located on a main road in a vibrant (noisy) industrial area on the edge of Florentin neighborhood, known for it's lively street art and nightlife scene, and only a 10-15 minutes walk to Old Jaffa and the nearest beach. Perfectly situated to enjoy some of the best restaurants, bars, and clubs this side of the Mediterranean, expect the raucous urban soundscape typical of any big city. We invite you to join us in creating a new way of urban existence, one that strives to create a harmony and balance between the hectic city life of us humans and the nature life that inhabits and surrounds it. We start by applying a more conscious consumerism: sharing, reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible, including composting our organic waste for use as fertilizer for the garden and using eco-friendly products. We also save and forage the area for food and other useful "trash", as the saying goes: "One man's trash is another's gold". We kindly request that all of our guests keep in mind to throw left over food in the compost bin and rinse out containers before disposing in the appropriate bin (they are labeled). We have a filtered water faucet, so no need to buy bottled water, and we also invite you to share our stock of shared food, condiments, spices, garden herbs, coffee, tee and complimentary environmentally friendly toiletries and detergents. We are always happy when visiting friends and guests feel like lending a hand, so please feel free to do so whenever, wherever and however you feel most useful and capable. Whether it be by financial support (we have a donation box in the kitchen for shared kitchen and cleaning supplies) or by shredding paper and cardboard, taking out the trash, cleaning, buying food, cooking, building shelves, gardening, painting walls, playing music, giving the cats attention or lending someone a listening ear or shoulder to cry on. We promise you that it works much better than complaining about all the stuff that needs to be fixed to the overloaded persons who are supposedly "in charge" of this wonderful chaos ;-) Sharing is Caring <3 Guest access Except for the private bedrooms, the whole apartment is a shared space and we're happy to share our facilities/appliances with you! We've got a fully equipped kitchen with a filtered drinking water faucet along with a washer/dryer (please use dryer only for emergencies), two bathrooms (one working shower), a big living room with a home cinema, many musical instruments, a very nice roommate with a simple home recording studio in his room, and a massive sunny rooftop with many sitting areas and a slowly growing urban garden. Other things to note We are located on a main road in an industrial/clubbing area and close to the new Bloomfield football stadium. It can get quite noisy most hours of the day and night and is more suitable for young adventurers. There is currently construction work going on at the block next door to us, so there is more noise and dust than usual, mostly during the early hours of the day. Across the street there is a big, relatively cheap, supermarket and quite a few 24/7 stores are around the block. We share our building with an Eritrean Coptic Church which is mostly active on weekends. They are friendly and the musical prayer sessions are pleasant to listen to. Occasionally they hold big congregations and may crowd up the stairwell and entrance to the building. We sometimes host special events on our roof, we will let you know if there is anything expected during your stay with us. We have 4 cats that roam the house and roof so you must like cats! :)
